Can I buy the "Digital" version to extend my subscription? The physical one is OOS all around me and the digital one says "For new subscribers only" - will it block the renewal?

Mine expired last month, so I did this: My quicken deluxe was going to expire, but I forgot I got free starter from turbotax. So I did that and got a year of starter, but I need Deluxe, so I paid full price ($51.99+tax) for the upgrade. Giving me a subscription until January 2023.

You can purchase and renew your subscription 3 months after it expires--or as long as your banks allow you to download from them. I did this last year and it turns a 12 month subscription into a 15 month--as long as you don't need it monthly. When I did the download from all my banks--the 3 months of missing transactions were downloaded.

It depends on how much you depend on Quicken for monthly information. I like the year end totals for tax purposes and don't use it for investments. It's also super easy to find purchases so you can find the receipt for warranty, returns etc if you put memo's in it for the item.
If you let your subscription expire and then purchase the one "for new subscribers only" more than 30 days later, how do you use your old file? Do you first have to create a new Quicken account, download whatever Quicken program update and then open your old file?

So, if we buy a physical disc, will it stop working after 1 year? Or is it 1 year updates? Any input would be appreciated

Old person here. Anybody remember Managing Your Money using DOS?
I loved MYM and hung on through the bitter end with that crappy Windows version. I was managing an Egghead Discount Software (anybody remember them?) in the greater Seattle area during MYM's heyday. Andy was visiting Egghead's corporate headquarters and he stopped by one of the nearby stores that one of my friends managed. He asked her if they had any software that could help, "manage his money." She recommended Quicken. We gave her a hard time for some time after that. LMAO

The software will continue to work 1 year after activation but you will no longer be able to download information from your financial institutions.

I have never purchased one for new subscribers only. I just purchase the regular one and found them on sale. If I were to purchase one for new subscriber--I'd probably back up my files--then set up the new one maybe under spouses name and load all the backed up data but only if I couldn't renew it with the one for new subscribers only-

Thanks! Just ordered for store pickup- my subscription expired earlier this month and I was waiting for a deal. Frustrated that the 2-year subscriptions don't exist anymore because I don't want to mess around every year looking for a decent price. May need to look for alternatives.
There are no alternatives. Been with quicken for over 15 years. Hate the new subscription model. But there's nothing else with similar functionality. We are stuck with this product and with the new subscription model.

Their business model is dead. Not only did I now need to pay them a fairly heafty yearly fee, they were possibly charging my bank (Wells Fargo) a fee too, who was charging me $36/year for the privilege of using Quicken. I switched to personal capital, similar to mint, about 2 years ago. I miss a few of the tools in Quicken, but cloud tools are too convienient.
Personal Capital has repeated issues they take forever to resolve. One of my brokers hasn't updated in over a month.

I think I understand, but just to clarify . . . (still working on first cup of coffee, Blue Bottle Hayes Valley, but drip, not espresso) . . .

So, if I don't use the Quicken function to download information from financial institutions, after the one year subscription expires all the other functions still work and I can still use Quicken for everything else, all the other normal functionality?

Does anyone know how long I can continue to use Quicken this way?

I think I have read that after three months or so from when the subscription expires they put up an obnoxious permanent banner that blocks half the screen to get people to renew their subscription. Is this true?

Thanks!

Did anyone try Money for Excel? I have been using the starter version of quicken. All my IRAs and investments all tally to 0 - to connects to the financial banks pulls the data never never updates the pricing or totals.
