If you exclude the offbrand Android TV devices that most consumers have never even heard of before (and even us techie folks!). There's literally only one device on the market that supports them: Nvidia Shield.

Ultimately as a streaming device there's no incentive for the hardware manufacturers to include this codec because none of the streaming apps even use it. Take out Plex and Kodi, (which arguably also have significantly lower rates of legally streamed content, which the manufacturers care even less to support) and you have little reason to add the lossless audio codec passthrough support.

I exercised my displeasure in this situation and just bought a 2019 Shield TV pro to voice it.

Heads up : Roku and Google could not reach an agreement so you won't be able to watch the YouTube TV app anymore on Roku devices. You can still watch it but you have to access it through the standard YouTube app which is kind of a pain.
