Someone with good taste! Season 2-3 of TD was a straight abomination
Hence I skipped season 3. 2 was atrocious. Although Fargo S1 is better than TD to S1.

Loved this as a docudrama type thing, really puts in perspective what a cluster fark it was and how much was due basically to communism covering its ass.

That said, it's not verbatim true (all aspects that is, for example the female physicist that uncovers it all - is actually a personified group of scientists [businessinsider.com], not a single person)

Chernobyl is interesting because the Russians did it to themselves. Fukushima happened because Tsunami from earthquake.

The only reason I believe Chernobyl is as popular as it is (google Chernobyl movies. . .) was because of it was in Russia. They're the masters at creating huge problems then appearing as heroes when they solve them.

Not bagging on The Bear. US has its problems too. But no one made movie after movie about 3 mile island. (The China Syndrome didn't have "3" or "Mile" or "Island" in the title unlike "Chernobyl Diaries")
There was some poor engineering and disaster preparedness involved in Fukushima. Disasters usually happens when there's a sequence of events that lines up. Chernobyl was poor decision making and a culture where you couldn't stand up to bad engineering or political decisions. Fukushima was old design complicated by having electrical water pumps underground that got flooded by tsunami after earthquake rendering an important safety mechanism useless.

US wasn't immune to bad culture issues. Challenger disaster was the direct result. Super cold weather, pressure to meet schedule and over confidence on past performance caused that.

If you don't like drama then why would you even try and watch a show about a nuclear reactor meltdown? They all can't be Encino Man my dude.
That's assuming I don't like drama. Not all drama is sad and tragic.

Can anyone comment on the amount of subtitles. I'm not very good at reading and watching at the same time.
Almost no subtitles, it's primarily in english. It's actually kind of jarring to see period correct perfectly costumed Soviet scientists, soldiers, etc. speaking in english with british accents even.

Yeah, but is it at least as good as Son In Law or Bio-Dome?

Thanks for the info. It's nearly impossible for me to read subtitles on my tablet when on my treadmill, so I'll give this a go.

I think people care more about Chernobyl because it only happened due to the sheer arrogance and hierarchy of the communist party. If people hadn't been hired based on party loyalty rather than qualifications, if known mistakes hadn't been redacted to save face, and if a pushy employee wasnt after a promotion, it wouldn't have happened.
This. It had elements of drama.
