Just as. FYI. If you do activate radio service, you also get free streaming as well for your phone etc. Also if you have a google nest music device or a Alexa product, you can also stream on that once you connect your Sirius account to it. For example… you can say. "Hey google play Sirius XM channel (say the number or the station name)' and it will play it. It's super good .

The bitrate is about 64 kbps for music and 32 kbps for talk on Sirius.
The bitrate on Spotify HIFI/Tidal Masters is 320 kbps CD quality for lossless audio.
Use an app, connect a cable, and ditch the garbage audio of Sirius. (FM radio is 96 kbps)
The bitrate is probably somewhere between 24–48 kbps depending if the AAC variant is based on v1 or v2 of the HE codec. The sample rate of the played back audio is likely 32 kHz or 44.1 kHz which will yield 16–22 kHz of audio bandwidth.

It is only a matter of time
with many new cars now have HD FM built in, it's way more inferior.
but I would never pay for SIRIUS or XM so I won't ever complaint about free stuffs
I completely agree with you. I bought a new car several years back that came with Sirius XM for free, so I would just listen to that and never turned on the radio, or any other media source. The sound quality was okay, not great, but I figured the sound system just wasn't as good as I expected. I finally got tired of Sirius (constantly updating and losing signal under small bridges) and shut it off. I couldn't believe how noticeably better HD Radio was. I have heard that Sirius quality is better through their App, but that would seem to defeat the purpose of streaming through your car (where you don't have to use your cell phone data plan).
If it's free and you don't have to give them a credit card, give it a try, but personally, I don't recommend paying for it if sound quality is important to you.
Yep. Have had them for 6 or 7 years now and go thru the same phone call going back and forth with the customer service person to cancel every year. Usually about a 10 minute call. Have never paid more than 6 or 7 bucks a month. I just add a reminder on Google assistant or Alexa to remind me a week before it's renewal time.

Ahh the classic summer road trip in winter
It's not even my incredible (standard Hyundai) system, or my highly trained (nope) ears. It's just Sirius sounds muddy. That, and the chutzpah of serving ads on a paid subscription. I got another free trial recently and it wasn't worth listening to, I stopped trying just a few minutes into a ten hour drive.
I done this twice so far using cartoon characters for names, spare Gmail accounts, and non-existent residential addresses. I'd be super angry if I had actually paid for this.

The last time I called in they didn't even connect me to anyone, said they would renew another year at the same promo price.
