With their constant solicitation calls, emails, letters, and ads in my vehicle for a very poor quality radio service, I'll pass, even when free.

The bitrate is about 64 kbps for music and 32 kbps for talk on Sirius.
The bitrate on Spotify HIFI/Tidal Masters is 320 kbps CD quality for lossless audio.

Use an app, connect a cable, and ditch the garbage audio of Sirius. (FM radio is 96 kbps)

The bitrate is probably somewhere between 24–48 kbps depending if the AAC variant is based on v1 or v2 of the HE codec. The sample rate of the played back audio is likely 32 kHz or 44.1 kHz which will yield 16–22 kHz of audio bandwidth.

Worked for two Hondas... use a unique (or misspelled ) name if you've previously been an active customer.

Sound quality is atrocious for music. Talk radio and comedy is ok.

I been in car stereo in the early 2000s and I can tell you it's definitely FM quality of worse.
with many new cars now have HD FM built in, it's way more inferior.
but I would never pay for SIRIUS or XM so I won't ever complaint about free stuffs
I completely agree with you. I bought a new car several years back that came with Sirius XM for free, so I would just listen to that and never turned on the radio, or any other media source. The sound quality was okay, not great, but I figured the sound system just wasn't as good as I expected. I finally got tired of Sirius (constantly updating and losing signal under small bridges) and shut it off. I couldn't believe how noticeably better HD Radio was. I have heard that Sirius quality is better through their App, but that would seem to defeat the purpose of streaming through your car (where you don't have to use your cell phone data plan).

If it's free and you don't have to give them a credit card, give it a try, but personally, I don't recommend paying for it if sound quality is important to you.

Good luck canceling. It's a frustrating experience and very scammy.

Even if you pay, it should be $5 a month at most. Many posts here to guide the way.
Yep. Have had them for 6 or 7 years now and go thru the same phone call going back and forth with the customer service person to cancel every year. Usually about a 10 minute call. Have never paid more than 6 or 7 bucks a month. I just add a reminder on Google assistant or Alexa to remind me a week before it's renewal time.

You can download Spotify music to your phone. Don't need active data.

Never had an issue. You just must not be assertive.

Can you really tell a difference in sound quality through a car stereo? Especially with surrounding noise? I listen to Sirius, FM, and phone apps, probably couldn't tell the difference. Maybe I'm better off not knowing
Easily. I can even hear when my radio switches over from regular FM to HD (there's a delay when switching stations.) And both regular FM and especially HD sound so much better than Sirius.

It's not even my incredible (standard Hyundai) system, or my highly trained (nope) ears. It's just Sirius sounds muddy. That, and the chutzpah of serving ads on a paid subscription. I got another free trial recently and it wasn't worth listening to, I stopped trying just a few minutes into a ten hour drive.

Now that you can easily chat via text message and cancel that way... It's not so hard. Why even bother calling anymore?

I used a different name and zip code and it worked. Thanks op!
I done this twice so far using cartoon characters for names, spare Gmail accounts, and non-existent residential addresses. I'd be super angry if I had actually paid for this.

When I was with Sirius, they had so many different charges added on and when I cancelled, they would not cancel and would not stop calling me giving me better and better deals till the cc charge came, it was the same no better deal. it was like cancer to get out of it. The quality is worse than tape. With so many better choices now I wonder how they are still in business.

If you're on the fence you can sample SiriusXM free through Dec. 6 by just turning on your inactive satellite radio. 🛰

The last time I called in they didn't even connect me to anyone, said they would renew another year at the same promo price.
