If you return items purchased with the digital Home Depot gift card, you will only receive store credit tied to your drivers license (in CA, not sure anywhere else).

I've made some purchases through PayPal recently and both of them showed up as eligible for 5% cash back, I couldn't find anything about PayPal anywhere in my emails from Chase, kinda strange but I'm not complaining - that's extra $5 in my pocket. I have Chase Freedom (not sure if it makes a difference).

What is the issue with having store credit tied to your driver's license?

Personally, I don't mind since the store credit is like a gift card any way.

Same thing happened to me as well. Super inconvenient. It's a bummer HD can't reassign the money back to the gift card.

You can't use store credit online, only in store. A regular gift card you can use online as well.

Not always a big deal, but sometimes I like to just grab it from a locker for a faster pickup. Other times, such as previous ecobee deals, they were available online only

Last month's statement shows 5% cash back on my Chase Freedom for PayPal transactions even it's not advertised anywhere....

Oh that's cool. I wonder why. I already purchased it using a different card (2% back) so I can't try with my Chase Freedom
