Almost eBay refurb pricing. And they include 3 months of antivirus software that you can't run on your Chromebook.

Generally accepted that speakers bad, less acknowledged but to me the physical build quality is subpar. Little rubber feet around the hinges get out of position, occasional creaks and cracks opening and closing.

More vertical display is amazing, performance otherwise outstanding.

Funny story: I actually ordered the refurbished version at 9:00 p.m. last night to arrive next Tuesday (I even paid for expedited shipping)

Then in 1 hour it went on sale to where brand new was cheaper than what I paid for the refurb. And it was to arrive today. I tried calling CS to no avail so I just ordered another one.

Hopefully, I can just return the refurb when it arrives - unbelievable, I've been eyeing this thing for a while but I couldn't wait for 1 hour!

How does printing work? Would it be a challenge to get it to work with an older printer that I currently use with Windows?

It can really depend on your printer, and some online resources are now stale (with Google ending some printer services). I'd recommend looking up your specific printer model and printing on a Chromebook to get a good idea; perhaps someone else has a better idea, but I agree that it's pretty confusing with a Chromebook + frequent Google updates.

Generally, I've found they have added a lot of compatibility for printers and Chrome OS, especially with wireless printers. We have a printer formerly used by another family member for a few years and it has compatibility.

I think it only works with wireless printing

One of mine came off in the first week. I put it back in place but after that it just kept coming off. I ended up ripping both off and the metal tabs that they sit on. Def a poor designed system but doesn't bother me with those parts removed now.
Easily the best chromebook I've owned , have had 5 over the last 10 years.

This is a great deal, especially for a new unit. Support through June 2028. Great price at $429. Even new models like the Samsung Chromebook 2 (a spec downgrade from the first model), have a lower-end i3 and slower emmc storage.

I had this as a refurbished unit, and it was very fast, has an excellent 3:2 screen, and a great keyboard. It is an excellent productivity device.

I didn't love the half plastic/half metal and the seams were ever so slightly misaligned (not a huge deal but bothered me every time I picked it up). The trackpad and keyboard deck were a bit tall (to match the screen) but that's trivial. The battery life was about 6 hours of screen time for my refurb, which Acer said was expected even with the "Up to 10 hours" sticker on the front; perhaps a new unit would be better but my battery stats showed only 3 cycles (not sure if that is reset on Powerwash). The biggest issue was the speakers, which were very weak especially at this higher/mid Chromebook price, and are down-firing so can get even more muffled if used on your lap.

I eventually returned mine and bought an open box Pixelbook Go. Best Buy had some for about 360. The PB has better build, battery life, and much better speakers, but I definitely miss the screen and speed of this one.

Main selling point of this is the beautiful display and chromeOS. If you don't care about either or you must have windows for programs that are windows only then you know your answer.

This appears to be lower than many of the refurb pricing -- I paid $448 for an ebay Acer certified refurb back in January. The lowest I've seen refurbs go is $401 about 10 days ago, slickdeals thread here.

Definitely fantastic price for this i5 version. I own this and as others say the speakers are incredibly bad, but screen and performance are off the charts. My favorite Chromebook ever, and I've owned more than 10.

Would the galaxy chromebook be a better buy minus the battery life?
