Was $429 about a month ago. Maybe it will go on a better sale in the near future.

I feel like this is a monthly sale since last November. With the new Tiger Lake models and the 3rd Gen of this about to drop any day now, $429 is the target price for this. Might go even lower if they are trying to clear out inventory for the new gen. If you absolutely had to buy a Chromebook today, this is an ok price. I'd wait for the new chips though.

+1 to this. I'm writing this response out on this laptop which I got refurb early this year. It's an awesome laptop that I really enjoy (except for speaker and kind of boring look). But the refreshed version has been announced (vid here [youtube.com]). From early reviews the internals are even faster than the already blazing fast 10th gen Intel processors, and build quality is also better. Hopefully the sound this thing produces is closer to average vs. what this version has.

Only thing to keep in mind is that retail for new version will be $699 (vs. I believe $629 for this version). Either way if you're not in a hurry I'd wait for a better price or pick up an Acer refurb for a lower price once it goes on sale.

Acer is slightly heavier (3 lb vs 2.7 lb), has a core i5 CPU vs core i3 in the Samsung, has a higher resolution screen (probably hard to notice the difference), dedicated HDMI port and a USB 3.0 port which the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook does not have, and 3:2 aspect ratio vs 16:9 in the Galaxy. People say the Samsung has better build quality. Battery life is probably comparable. Both will receive updates till June 2028.
