Be careful what you would use this on. Its small compared to modern heatpipe designs like the noctua. This design is unchanged in the last 16 years.
I was about to say. I built an fx-8350 in like 2011 and I swear to God the model number is even unchanged. Wild. This thing sucks for clearance, each copper blade is a KNIFE, and the thing weighs like a bowling ball. Looks cool to a 12 year old tho 🤣
Buyer beware, the springy latch on mine broke after ~10 years and the heatsink just fell off. Computer started to overheat shortly after turning on. Luckily It didn't short circuited the videocard or anything else.
Really good and quiet when it works, could handle hot CPUs Q6600 - Phenom II X6 1100T - FX-8310 in SETI@Home. I'd buy it again for $20.
Been running one of these on i7-4790K in kid's box for 5 or 6 years now keeps decent temps. Does pretty good but latching mechanism IIRC was a bit of a pain.
I can't believe my eyes when I see this heatsink being posted. It's a solid device for my htpc more than 12 yrs ago. The system got replaced by my Shield TV Pro now.
