This is a mechanics set...

Were you planning to hammer and stab your Prius?
232 pieces and it only has 8 wrenches? Ridiculous.
Your kit has a massively inflated number due to the Allen wrenches and the bits. The above kit actually has a usable number of sockets.

I've been looking at this set or the Masterforce at Menards for my kids working on their own cars. Anyone have an opinion (number of pieces aside) on Masterforce vs. Craftsman. I have a Menards right up the road, so I've been buying one-off Masterforce tools for about a year. Actually broke one of 40 year old craftsman sockets last week in a moment of weakness I used it on a torque wrench instead of grabbing an impact socket. Figure I can take the Craftsman back to any retailer that sells them, right?

The sadistic part of me desperately wants to see one of these kits but it's all hex keys and screwdriver bits. Idk why it's so hard for these guys to offer a legit mix of decent tools that people actually need.
I don't really see the problem here. You could take apart a 2000s Honda Accord almost to the unibody using this kit.

I bought a similar craftsman set about a year ago, not impressed by the quality. I broke my 3/8 ratchet on the second use and I was not doing anything intense with it, I've been to Lowe's probably 4 times to swap it out before I gave up because they will only swap it to the current "comparable model" and that's always out of stock so I can only imagine I'm not the only one breaking these cheap tools, I recently cracked the 19mm in my set too, I am retiring the rest of the set to my firehouse for spare tools for the guys there and I bought a husky set, quality is better IMO and from what I hear they will actually swap them out there but I haven't broken anything yet. I also have a crescent wrench brand mechanics set I picked up at Costco or Sam's I forgot which but the quality of that was surprisingly good, I just bought it for a set to leave in my car all the time but it seems Really nice. Either way just a heads up at least in my experience the craftsman tools are maybe slightly above harbor freight quality and I won't be buying them again.

In my opinion the Chinese Craftsman ratchet grips suck. They bite into my hand.

I always use a ratchet when ever working on guns or my rc toysEEK!. Your words of wisdom have inspired me to tape a ratchet to the cord of my sawzall and start using a 10lb sledge to pound nails. We are all so blessed to have been given advice by you.
For small Allen screws I would use a screwdriver. Again, keys are pretty much worthless. The rest of your hyperbole isn't even worth responding to since it fails to even make a coherent point.

I can tell you never used hex keys before if you think they are only good for ikea furniture. Were you expecting a hex socket set in this mechanics set? Unreasonable expectation. There is a reason why hex keys come in EVERY mechanics tool set and it isn't for ikea furniture.

How much is a hex key set and a hex socket set? Big difference in cost.
Portability and weight of hex keys and hex socket set?
What is more compact and can fit in tighter spots? Hex keys.
Hex keys are also handy with power tools, appliances, furniture, bicycles, etc. and the list goes on and on.

Ball end hex keys may even confuse you even more.

Read this article on "Why you need a full set of hex keys?".
https://www.manmadediy.com/3812-m...ro=1&M7c=1
The only one confused is yourself. You're the one that suggested that the set with the all important hex keys is better, and I pointed out how worthless they are. If you're a DIYer, you can get by just fine with a set of harbor freight Allen sockets for $15. Amazingly there are even ball end sockets. But of course you would prefer using the short side of the key and get almost no leverage. Even the page you posted didn't provide one example where a socket wouldn't work better. It's okay, they at least get paid by Irwin to shill their keys. Do you get the same?

I have 2 Craftsman mechanic tool sets (178 piece plastic tool box with 3 metal drawers) and 201 piece tri-fold case set. These were USA made Craftsman a couple years before they eventually switched to China.... I got 14 combination wrenches with the 178 piece set and 25 wrenches (21 combination wrenches and 4 crow foot wrenches) with the 201 piece set. I believe I paid $159 for the 178 piece set and an awesome $85 "black friday" deal for the 201 piece tri-fold set. ...... I hate how Craftsman, Husky, Kobalt, etc. are all cutting back on the combination wrenches. Even with the Husky deal with $99 price (retail $199), they give 10 wrenches. To be fair though, I do have a wrench rolling pouch and it is heavy. It adds a lot of weight to the mechanic set. Carrying around extra wrenches that you may not need is annoying. I think 16 wrenches should be the norm. I even added an adjustable wrench to my 178 piece set with 16 wrenches. It is what it is.

How many bits did I have in my old 2 mechanic sets?
Only 9 bits in each set.... No joke. Crazy!
