I've been eyeing this garage door for awhile and it's finally on sale. Normally $245, now 20% off for $195 with free shipping or free store pick up. This garage door is CA compliant since it has a backup battery.

I also got the professional installation for an additional $87. Also not a bad deal considering quotes I got from contractors were $150 to $200 just for install.

Amazon also has the same garage door for the same price https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075CQ86ZV/ Expired

CA requires a back-up battery because of wild fires. If you need to evacuate quickly, you'll want to use your car. Some people may only have an accessible car in the garage but if the power is out, how will they open the garage open? Yes, there's the emergency cord to manually open and close the door. But not many know about it, know how to operate it or even have the strength to operate it. Imagine your elderly parents in a panic trying to evacuate quickly and but don't have arm strength to pull on the emergency cord or not tall enough or the car is in the way of getting access to it. Then the real panic and irrational thinking starts to set in. But if the garage door can operate with just a backup battery in case of emergency, that's a great peace of mind to have for a little extra $. CA firefighters have found people who died in their garage trying to get out, especially the elderly. Hence the CA law requires backup battery.
Until your power goes out. It's my main entrance to my house. Power goes off while I am not there it gets tricky. It's happened more than once here in the midwest
This is what I use to install mine https://youtu.be/ekPy7w9UIdY

I'd also be replacing an old Genie 0.5hp screw drive with this one. How did you find this unit compared to the old after install?
I replaced (2) ~16 year old 1/2 HP Genie Screwdrivers (1 powered a single door, and 1 powered a double door). This new chamberlain is MUCH quieter and lifts the double door with ease. VERY pleased with the upgrade.

Thanks for the thorough reply! Do you also have a 1 bay garage? Also, can this unit take led light bulbs? I know the bulbs don't come included
Chamberlain recommends NOT using LED bulbs as it "could impact the range of the remote." It mentions this in the manual as well as a sticker next to the light bulb socket. So use at your own risk.

Nice they're working out. I purchased one with install yesterday and am just hoping that it isn't too much power for my 1 car metal garage door lol

Very interesting. I wonder how much it actually affects the range. Maybe it's just a matter of trying the led's and seeing if creates a range issue that actually bothers or not.

Does the install cover a "virgin" install, or just a replacement? We have an existing garage door, but no opener.

You can definitely use LED bulbs, such as Philips, in this unit.
If you write to Chamberlain tech support, they'll give you a list of recommended approved LED bulbs. It's not that LED bulbs in general won't work, but that there are a few which create RF interference with the WiFi, that's all.

You'll need a sectional garage door which has a spring above the door. IOW, it has to be a garage door designed to support an opener. You'll need an outlet to plug the opener into. You might need to buy some additional angle iron/bar to mount the unit. Lastly, you'll run wires to the bottom edges of your garage door rails and near the door to your house. You can either surface mount these or else be fancy and run them inside the walls, which takes some effort, unless they were pre-installed for you.

Chamberlain has fantastic tech support and if you take a few pictures of your door and send them, they'll answer you right away with all the help you need.

I believe it is used to setup the myQ app to sync with the GDO. When I first setup mine, it asks to turn on bluetooth on my phone. The app is nice, provides a history of when door is open/close, also notification on phone, though the notification is not immediate. It takes a few minutes. Longest has been 11 minutes for me.

I am trying to schedule installation and it looks like I can only get installation service to the same zip code that I ordered the garage door opener from. Is that true? Seems a bit odd to me.
I bought the garage opener and installation in separate orders. I got it installed today. I do not think there is any correlation. The guys who came to install didn't even care where I bought the opener from. I could have bought it from Amazon as well
