Had a bad experience with one I bought a little more than 2 yrs ago. It worked well while it lasted. A few months ago it would not boot due to system error regarding cooling fan not working. The bottom case is impossible to open. Tried blowing the fan from outside to no avail. Never buying any more HP laptops after spending so much money on one which barely lasted a couple years of light use.

2 questions:

1. does anyone know if you can cancel if you get delayed?

2. is the IPS panel bright enough for outdoor use? are the other screens better for outdoor use? (but I'm assuming the other ones are worse on battery life?)

I had an older spectre x360....ran way too hot, even though I barely used it, and died after a couple of years....my older Acer that the 360 was supposed to replace ran better (android emulator), longer and actually outlived the HP. The fan eventually died. I'm not going to get that model again.

It is relatively easy to open the bottom plenty of utubes. Can then swap drives and likely make many repairs. Unsure about the battery access but I suspect you can swap that too I wasn't in there for battery so do not recall. But I do agree my early 2020 Spectre X360 is beautiful and a joy to use but now one screen failure later and having paid for extended warranty not too enthusiastic. But performance is great.

I wish they made these with AMDs but the Spectre will probably be the only laptop I buy. I've had mine since 2016 and it still runs amazingly well. I even dropped it (fell out of its sleeve) onto the floor and it works fine (got a tiny dent). I assume these new ones are the same metal construction as mine. btw I rarely ever use the 2 in 1 feature since I don't fly much anymore but that is where it was worth it. The 2 in 1 feature lets you have the full screen up on an economy class ticket regardless of whether the person in front of you reclines.

I do use the touchscreen all the time though, it makes scrolling easy.

I've had the 10th Gen 13" Spectre X360 for a little over a year with hardly any issues. One of which was a motherboard replacement. Total turnaround time from shipping it out, repair, to receiving it back, was 4 business days. HP's service can't be beat. I'd spring for the 3 year HP Care Pack w/ Accidental, of which they often have sales/discounts on. Paid under $175 for 3 years.

No offense to the Spectre-lovers on here, but every single one of these self-reviews admitting to product flaws, yet still insisting they're worth buying come off as extremely perfunctory.

I don't care how great the customer service is; if the product shows a high failure rate, customer service will not make up for your investment being lost once the product is out-of-warranty, and I'm not one to excuse "unintended" obsolescence.

Battery and storage dying over the years is understandable, but screen and motherboard problems—are you serious? I've used a 3rd gen i7-powered Samsung for over 7 years, not ONE MB-related issue. 8th gen i5'd Dell G3—three years, again, 0 issues.

I've used the Spectre with the 1165 processor, and I will tell you it ain't worth the latter-end "Sudden Laptop Death Syndrome". It's built somewhat great, but for something that heavy, it definitely should've came with better thermals, which will absolutely lead to your unit failing quicker than its competitors. For something that expensive, the OS shouldn't be anywhere near as buggy as it is—constant display profile issues on external displays, crackling audio if you try to use your own audio suite, and it definitely lags under load. You can argue that these are very niche circumstances, but I will argue back that these were never issues with similar AND older PCs. I've also tested the Acer Swift 3, and despite its shortcomings, gave 0 performance issues. Same thing with the Razer Book 13 I'm currently using. 0 issues with display, audio, performance, motherboard, whatever.

There's clearly a risk factor involved with buying one of these Spectre units, and it did 0 benefit seeing 0 driver updates roll out for the ~30 days I used it, despite having just been released. If I have any personal experience with buying PCs at massive markdowns, it's that it's usually tied to some critical flaw that will drastically affect it later on.

Someone, please provide an actual counterpoint instead of "but he says he still cares about me!"
