A word of warning for Quicken users on older versions. Last year I decided to upgrade to Quicken just because the version I was using was several years old. While I don't care for the subscription model, I was willing to get a subscription every four or five years to keep somewhat current. Huge mistake.

That subscription just expired. While I knew that the transaction downloads and manual imports would no longer work w/o a subscription, I did not realize that 1.5" at the top of the app and 4" on the right-hand side of the app would be lost to messages about the membership being expired. Additionally, when navigating to a different tab, account, etc., a "Membership Expired" pop up is displayed each time. You must click OK to close it. Often, the pop-up immediately is displayed again, and you must repeat the process (in my experience up to four times).

I can't think of anything that I use in Quicken that is improved from the older version I was using. Therefore, if you're on an older version and like it, I would recommend staying on it. I hope to be able to go back to my previous version too, but I suspect they've done something to make that difficult as well.

You're kidding right? You can do online bill payment straight from your bank online.

I just bought a similar deal for Quicken Deluxe from Office Max this past month.

With what appears to be ongoing software issues with the product, I can't recommend Quicken to anyone.

Around late last year and crossing over to early this year, I was experiencing reconciling issues within multiple accounts (bank and credit card accts). There were random adjustments made causing me to spend a number of hours over that time attempting to clear the differences I was finding. I finally got it all sorted around Feb/Mar of this year and received a message from Quicken via a software update where they seemed to have acknowledged the problem and blamed a third party vendor from what I recall. Despite the headache I dealt with solving that issue, all seemed to be good and and I decided to continue with another year of service at a discount price. Well, just this week I have seemed to have encountered a similar problem but haven't decided whether I'll spend the time to correct it again if this issue is going to be perpetuated.

I have been using Quicken for nearly 20 years and looks like the software is just going down hill since it was spun off from Intuit a couple of years back. I may just end up using Mint.

Look at their forums and you'll find numerous issues with reconciling accounts among others.

Long story short - avoid Quicken.

I believe it is same price at Staples with no shipping fee (at least for me? Business Exclusive?).

https://www.staples.com/quicken-d...t_24411747

I'm a little confused because on Staples it has the same product version number, but says the format is download.

Anyway, I think it's the same, "free shipping", and you might be able to use a coupon or points or whatever. Always good to have options.

Yes, but this is the only way to do online bill payment.

Staples let me get the DVD version for $31.19 and it has free shipping as it is over the $25 minimum. This was for Deluxe and is the DVD which works even if you are not a new user.

I've been holding onto 2017 for this reason - I don't use any online interactivity, it's basically just a manual electronic register for me, and I don't want to be paying yearly either. I would still be using MS Money if MS hadn't killed it. Unfortunately the other free programs are basically shit. Quicken 2017 is buggy as hell too.
