I've used several ecobee in my office and multiple Nest-E at home. Ecobee is so much better, more user friendly, easier to adjust and set schedules, and get your historical data out of it. Nest looks cool but is terrible for function and user experience. The WORST part is they advertise the usefulness of historical data on the Nest and you can only see the last 10 days. How is 10 days of usage history useful? I am so sorry I have Nest at home.

Well, your suspicions are wrong. it's pretty screwed up for you to be spreading false information. Nest has been well known for providing only 10 days of data. I just checked and it only shows 10 days.

But, no need to take your or my word for it. Let's use data and references and critical thinking.

Google support page for the nest:

"Your thermostat's Energy History is a detailed summary that covers the last 10 days. You can view it on your thermostat or with the Nest app on a phone, tablet, or computer."

https://support.google.com/google...2Cnest-app

Anywho. Maybe you've got a magic nest, or can't count. But, PLEASE share proof rather than assertion as if you are correct I'd love to get that data out of it. I know there are 3rd party scripts to scrape the google API and get your data but they are a pain.

One of the greatest potential values of a smart thermostat is the data over long periods of time to establish seasonal energy consumption changes. Nest makes this impossible. However, ecobee makes it EASY!

I think the one Costco has is the "lite" model.

I'm having a tough time finding the ecobee app on iTunes. Which app are you guys using to control ecobee? Is it ecobee business or ecobee smartbuildings? TIA!
You'd need to look at App Store on iOS devices or Home app on your Mac.

I've been using ecobee 3 lite for 3 years now. Never got no response from home app it's pretty responsive too. I use home automation with smart sensor to control lights in room never had to use voice or phone to control lights around the house. Feel free to ask any ecobee questions you have I'm using all their products.

Absolutely! I use window door sensors to trigger lights and fans on HomeKit. Camera to set backyard scenes since it supports face recognition. Latency in sensors is about half a second to 2 seconds.

After hearing the radio commercial Ecobee made themselves, I am avoiding their products. Creepy as fark and super intrusive into your privacy.

I am looking at this and the Honeywell T9. Does this ecobee allow you to see the temp of the room that the sensors are in and allow you to set the heat or air to adjust to temp to that sensor? Does anyone have experience with both?
Yes, you can adjust temp to the sensor alone. Use mine like this for our bedroom at night.

How does this smart thermostat works in townhouses , how would it control the temp in each floor ? Do we need a separate sensor for every floor ?

Thanks, can you provide any additional info. It is usually $199, so Is there a way to get it to $149? The savings store shows $199 for me and I don't get the emails.

Wish they still made devices without built-in bugs (microphones). Have the previous version that doesn't have a built-in mic and just praying I don't have to replace it... Love it, never had any issues in the years I've had it.

I love this in my current home. Moving later this year. I'll need 2 new ones and trying to decide if this is good enough deal to buy so far in advance. I'm leaning no as they could even have an upgraded model in that time.

I wouldn't, for warranty reasons alone should it not work properly. If I were to move I'd probably just buy a cheap thermostat and just take this one with me (swap it before you put your home up for sale)...

Considered that. But mine is 5 years old. I'll wait and buy once moved. Builder is installing some Honeywell wifi smart stat that I'll use until I get around to buying ecobee again

I've been pretty disappointed with ecobee. So tired of receiving advertisements for their air filters while opening the app to change something. Product advertisements should be emails that I can opt out of, not a prominent banner that I have to dismiss every time. Maybe there is a setting to disable it, but I can't find it and I shouldn't have to.

Lots of other frustrating design flaws and their constant fiddling with their API which breaks things. I'd be better off with a no name z-wave or zigbee thermostat.
