No 160Mhz, no VPN for anything but mobile devices last I checked, weird firmware, no dedicated backhaul triband when used in mesh with another Amplifi which would be pretty expensive, no multi gig port. Overall a lot of cons to this device.

If you want something weird that works as a single router solution, this is one of the best prices on an Amplifi but for $300 I would look at other devices. Since even the Asus AX88U out performs it and its a dual band router. Besides those cons if you really have a hardon for over spending and want Amplifi it is a well reviewed solid performing router.

Always the concerning thing with no name router brands is router firmware updates. The NSA has come out publicly many times telling the public how important firmware upgrades are by manufacturers since the majority of home routers are vulnerable to attack. When checking this brand's firmware updates there has been periods of time (november 2020 then the next firmware update was March 2021) where no updates have been published. Also seemingly nothing being added as security fixes.

Now go and look at an ASUS router and look how many security holes they are plugging on each firmware update. It's not ASUS has simply more holes.... it's that these other brands aren't finding the security holes and protecting the router via firmware updates. Again, the NSA say only a few brands are actually plugging very severe networking backdoors.

Amplifi is not a no-name brand. It's the consumer level stuff from Ubiquiti which is a well established brand.

If you call ubiquiti a no-name brand then you should indeed go back to your ASUS router.
