Very annoying to control but pretty good for the price and maybe the new Cync app will make it better.
They do need a hub but there are lots of options. The Amazon echo plus works as a hub. Maybe you already have one.
I have about 6 different brands of smart bulbs. I don't use the 2 of these that I got free with my Google homes. I kept having issues with having to delete and reconfigure them. Everything else in the house works fine

I bought a 5 pack of these and wanted to install 3 of them in my kitchen light that took 3 bulbs, after a couple hours of messing with them I went back to using the switch. I was hoping to get them to work with my google home and I could never get them to sync together, they seem fine if you only need one bulb per room

Yeah google home and smart bulbs of different brands don't get along well.

This is just false. These bulbs are just junk.

These bulbs work directly with the Amazon Echo or needs c-by-GE devices like Smart Plug, Smart Switch or C-Reach too?
They are bluetooth only, so they do not work directly with Amazon Echo. If you get one of the devices you mentioned, they'll bluetooth connect to each other and that device will wifi connect to the Echo.

These are not the same ones as Direct Connect (Wifi) bulbs. These do need a C by GE bridge (i.e. C by GE smart plug)

I bought some C by GE bulbs (12 in total) and have used them for 1-2 years. I would not buy them again. Issues I've run into:
1) I ended up having to buy separate hubs for each separate area in order for these connect to my wifi. Given how spaced out these are in my home, I had to purchase 3. More research on my part would have prepared me for this.
2) Connectivity SUCKS. I use the C by GE app, and the automation routines I've set up will disappear and stop working. It's occurred twice in the time I've owned them. Also, when I open the app, it often just doesn't detect any of my devices. I'll have to force-close the app, restart my phone, or a combo of the two.
3) I had a tough time getting them set up, and if you end up having to reset one bulb, any other bulb also connected to the same switch will also be factory reset and will need to be added back to the system. If you have 6 bulbs on one switch, like I have in my kitchen, this SUCKS.

On the plus side, the 3 times I had to contact GE support, they were SUPER helpful, and they weren't offshore support. It literally felt like I was just talking to one of my buddies in my friend group. Very pleasantly surprised.

Still, I would not buy another C by GE smart bulb again.
