Original Quality after the mentioned date will count against your account storage, so it would be best to just use their unlimited Storage Saver.
The rest of the phones including their 'a' variants get unlimited Storage Saver as of now.
As for ownership, it doesn't matter if you're the 5th owner of an original Pixel, as long as it's linked to your Google account, that specific model will get you unlimited original quality... only if uploaded from that device.
This probably works well if you're indoors a lot but it sounds like a hassle to worry about battery health if you're someone who is often outdoors.
Also, it probably only makes sense to do this if you're keeping your devices 4-5 years or more. I've used plenty of phones for 3 years while charging nightly and the batteries were still decent towards the end. Not great, but decent.

One is (Sprint unlocked), a (verizon unlocked) and one just (unlocked).
I have Verizon now, but would like to be open to choose later. Is the plain "unlocked" version good for any carrier? Why are there three versions of unlocked phones?
If you are OK with just having stills backed up and throwing out the movies you are "Good to go"

Pixel 3 was Introduced in 2018.
Newer Version is Pixel 5 and the price is 699$.
Pixel 6 is coming and you can expect the Pixel 5 to be reduced.
This is not even a good deal.
Pixel 5 has mid range chipset
Pixel 6 will be expensive, over $1000, weak, or both It's not coming out for a long time. It wont reduce in price for years after that.
Pixel 5 will not be reduced for years, like all phones in 2021 there are no reductions. The cost of everything has tripled in two weeks. There are zero phone deals ever now.
This is a very good deal. At least, what passes for one in 2021.

I want to buy a truck. The cost of the same truck has gone up $10,000 in the last two weeks. If you can find one at all.
Lumber has gone up 300% in a week. Which builds what people live in.
6 trillion dollars of covid stimuus inflation just got pumped into the economy, and more is coming constantly. Most people are on $1000 a week unemployment and food stamps, buying up everything they can as fast as they can. A nvidia video card is $2000, A PS5 is $1000, you cannot get either.
Phones are NOT going on sale for many years, if ever. I've been looking for a S21 and there are no deals that dont require signing with a carrier for a small discount.

User error. my friend had one and it was great for years.
she always cracks her phones in like a week and this one never cracked for like 3 yrs, without a case. Granted, this was most likely due to luck, but still. Pics were also extremely impressive. Although she now has the S21 Ultra she claims this is still her favorite she's ever owned. Probably also because the vanilla android software is nice.
Given the pantheon of whats readily available new under $200, it's this or a Moto. This is better.
