Really wish they'd give a deal to those who stay members! $149 yearly is steep though it works out to about $14/book with the 12 credits. Wife loves it and I just wish I could save some money on annual renewals and not go through the rigor moral of cancelling and rejoining and such. She has six 3 month cards (gets them as gifts from people) that each give 3 book credits, but wish they would work to extend the membership by 3 months as well. Audible has got me by the balls.

You lose unused credits when you cancel, so you'll want to use them within the 4 months.

People are telling you the wrong answer to this question. Your credits expire after 12 months only if you keep your subscription for 12 months. If you cancel your subscription your credits go away. Make sure you have 4 books that you know you want, that way you can use your credits to get the books then when you cancel you can keep the books forever.

Friendly reminder that your local library probably supports a free app with most of these books. If you're not looking for the exclusive content, you're better off not paying Amazon your money at all for Audible. I did Audible and found that I was only going to be the occasional, casual listener so the free library option was much better for me.

I don't want to miss an opportunity to say that the Audible app for iOS is very annoying, For some reason, it requires an Internet connection to correctly keep track of where you are, and in some cases to even resume listening to a book. It likes to start over, and also likes to pop up a message that "Something went wrong". I'm not talking about starting a new book here .. I'm talking about a book that began listening on wi-fi weeks ago. It behaves as though it is streaming.

I say this as an otherwise Audible fan who has been a member for a very long time .. years before they were associated with Amazon.
