Bluetooth has been around for 20 year but it's still kinda buggy. It's a crapshoot which devices need that extra 'connect' because the problem could be the device, your phone's OS, or the bluetooth driver on your phone. Nothing to do but try.

Is this always connected with your phone? I find bluetooth awkward sometimes because I need to hit "connect" whenever I need to use the device.

Nope, this is bluetooth only. Right now alexa/google servers talk to the device's company's servers to control devices. There is no direct or offline control.

will they end support and stop updating the strip too? I've had a few other Govee strip led lights and they all have problems updating to the next version. Even though the lights still function and customer service is great I'm not sure if I'm going to pick up another light.

I looked and cannot find it (likely blind), but can the app control multiple strips separately? ie 1 app can set different colors in different rooms at the same time?

I've gotten govee lights to work with the smart life app thru Google home. I can control of color and off and on. They have to be wifi enabled tho these Bluetooth ones won't work.

Can these be cut/trimmed/pieced together? I want to use them for the backlighting on a wall-mount PC 'case'.

Thoughts?


EDIT: Yes, it does, but at 18 LEDs per METER, the spacing on the LEDs isn't what I'm looking for.

18 LED's per meter is really low
You can get 300 per meter
For cheap enough and buy your own controller for like $8-10
I never actually used such a low density strip before but it must be awful because even with 300 it is not really that bright
