If the deal comes with Slickdeals Rewards (Cashback), it's usually a bad deal.
This laptop is supposedly better than the recent Dell G15 10870h deal. It has a much better display (165Hz, 100% sRGB), higher powered 3060 (115w compared to 90W) and a more efficient processor.

If you got the Amex offer, then this costs about the same as that deal. Worth noting though, I was not able to apply any other coupons on top of it. Confirmed with the CS as well, no other discounts possible.
The other deal is this one with Intel CPU:
https://deals.dell.com/en-us/mpp/...etail/8z5o

With the STUDENT100 coupon, the price comes down to 1100 and stacking with Amex offer brings the total to $980+ tax.

Yes both Intel and AMD versions have USB 3.2 and not USB 2, that is a listing error on Dell's webpage.

I have the Intel version of this Laptop and it came with the Intel Wifi card which works well and near Gig speeds on Wifi 6 close to the router. The AMD version comes with Killer so I am not sure how good that would be.
The wifi card in both laptops support wifi 6 and the Killer wifi card in the Ryzen is actually a rebranded intel AX200. There are some gripes about drivers/software, but otherwise both should serve you well as there weren't any real updates in the AX201 that the intel G15 has. If for some reason you really didn't want the Killer branded version of the AX200, you could buy one from Amazon for about $23 and put it in yourself very easily. The screen however, cannot be changed on the intel soooo I would definitely recommend the Ryzen laptop over the Intel version just on that fact alone.

Yes I agree. While I havent seen the display on the Ryzen edition, the intel screen is really bad with horrible CR and colors, it also looks grainy for some reason. I actually had two of these and both screens look the same so its not due to panel variance.

The reason I am keeping the intel version is since I got it for much cheaper around $200 to $250 cheaper. Since I will be using an external display most of the time, it doesn't bother me much.

If you are mainly gaming, and on an external monitor, the screen differences and CPU differences will not matter to you. If you are doing any workload however, the ryzen cpu is 10%-50% faster in almost all workload applications. Only other diff is the 90w vs 115w gpu difference which can be about 5%-10% of a real world gaming difference. If you still have the Amex deal (120off599) it can make the price difference much smaller between the two laptops. Even better if you have two different card holders and can do it twice by splitting the payment at Dell and getting the promo twice.

Oops. I'm a noob, and didn't have performance mode enabled when I shared my Cinebench R23 scores for my Intel i7 10870H Dell G15. There's a G over the F9 key that lets you go into performance mode.. My bad. The actual scores of my intel G15 is

CPU (Multi Core) 9596
CPU (Single Core) 1226
Mp Ratio 7.70x

Max temp recorded during the test was 100 for a split second, but on average was 79C.

Can anyone with the Ryzen Dell G15 share their Cinebench R23 scores? Thanks!

Is it worth upgrading to Windows 10 Pro for $58?

I could run it later today. Did the G performance mode have an effect of the benchmark? I thought it merely kicked up the fan speed to 100%.

I ordered both Ryzen and Intel models and put them side by side and the Intel display is significantly less bright and saturated.

Thanks. I'm looking forward to it. My benchmark of r23 was 8868 before. Now almost 9600 for the multi core score.

Honestly, I dont have an issue with the brightness, but everything else is crap about the display. How is the BLB and Contrast on the Ryzen model?

Cinebench R23 results on Ryzen model:

Multi core (G mode): 11428
Single core (G mode): 1344
MP Ratio 8.51x

My first time running cinebench... Let me know if I'm missing anything.

I shouldn't be complaining, but my temps are.. almost too cold? like 74 or 75 C on average when running the benchmark with my i7 10870H version of this laptop. ... I have G mode enabled. And performance mode enabled on the battery. Is there anything else I can do to make my laptop run faster? Trying to push my laptop in games, and the CPU is running in the mid to late 70's, and my GPU likes to sit at no higher than 65 degrees when I run it as hard as I can in 4k in some games. I think there's extra performance to be had out of this laptop, just not quite sure how to get it. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

My Ryzen model is averaging 90C and max 96C when running cinebench R23 multi core.

Look into overclocking. Also do a manual fan curve adjustment if the fans are ramping up max speed.

I dont know what the "normal" stress temps are, but isnt that a bit too hot? Even at max stress I feel the temps should sty under 90
