I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

It's like any other referral process. The person referring you will get 15k points ($150 value), but that would mean you miss out on the $95 waived fee and $50 grocery credit and $20k points for yourself. The referral links have not updated with the 100k points it's still 80k points so better for you and your wife to just sign up in branch separately.
Even if you don't get the 100k in points when applying at the branch, it's only a $55 difference when you consider the $95 AF waived and the $50 grocery credit and you are not converting $95 cash into points. Granted 5500 points at 1.25 is 6875 points if redeeming for travel before you downgrade the card. Therefore, going to the branch is worth it regardless of which offer you get. More likely we will get the 100k too. Am I missing anything?

20000 points is worth at least $250, making the difference $105.

I'd rather have the 20k points than the extra $ from a branch visit. So if my app shows I'm pre-approved for the 100k points already, is it worth going to the branch to apply?
Made an appt for tomorrow since I went to 2 x branches today and there were 2/3 customers ahead of me, and the rep said it was probably going to be an hour wait.
How can anyone living in California have a hard time charging $4k in 3 months .. that's only $1,333 a month I think just my bar and food tabs exceed that amount monthly.
Finally got my approval email. Weird, they didn't approve me instantly. $12.5K current limit on a Freedom card, credit score about 800, been with Chase for 16 years and zero late payments. AMEX is my highest limit at $25K, so kinda curious to see what Chase gives me on the new Sapphire card. Thanks OP!
Got a UPS notification for the card. Shipped next day air with delivery tomorrow. Applied for card in branch on 6/11.
Same here. But while the email yesterday from UPS said expect delivery between 9:30 and 1:30, if I track details, it says check back tomorrow and the UPS people do not show it shipped yesterday but at 3:00 AM today. So, next day air saver terms mean it will come tomorrow.
We're leaving tomorrow and can't wait and have our mail held already.
You could have had multiple Freedom-family cards via downgrade.
If you downgrade, you don't have to wait 30 days - there are many data points showing 4 days to be a reliable threshold to apply. But outright cancellations don't work that way - you might get lucky and not need the full month. But other sites with a metric f#ckton better/more reliable knowledge re. credit cards than Slickdeals have stayed consistent with advising 30 days
Thank you for the suggestion. I was able to reopen my card and then convert it to a freedom unlimited card. I got to keep my account # and all.
Is it smart to cancel my existing CSR that I have kept for 5 years, and get this CSP for the bonus and then go back to CSR? I enjoy the benefits of CSR and have a bunch of points in it so really need the increased valuation and priority pass CSR offers. Will chase even approve me for a new CSR?

No. If you cancel, you have to wait for 30 days. By then, this offer may be gone.
You can downgrade, keep the points, and get this and move the points over but you would still lose out on some points due to CSR giving more than CSP.
This morning, UPS said check back tomorrow for a better delivery date. The package departed KY at 7 AM. At about 9 AM, the status changed to will be delivered today and now, its almost here. So, I am indeed getting the physical card today.
I applied in the branch on 6/11 at 3 PM and had asked the banker to order the expedition. They had confirmed the 80K + 20K = 100K points offer by phone in front of me.
Congrats! How many Chase credit cards do you have and the overall credit Chase has granted you? Do you know the credit limit of your CSP? I have 4 credit cards by Chase with $27K overall credit. I am afraid my CSP app will be denied and waste a hard pull.

Went to a branch this morning and the banker confirmed that I will get 100K even though the system says 80K. It will come in as a separate 20K transaction as others have mentioned. First year fee waived and $50 grocery credit.
Was approved instantly and was able to add an authorized user at the same time as well. Credit pull was done only for the primary applicant.
