I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

My application got denied even though I have a credit above 800. Any thoughts on why?
Possible reasons (from most common to least common):
  • You opened 5 new personal credit cards within the past 24 months. Being an authorized user on someone else's card counts under Chase's 5/24 rule. Most business credit cards do not count (exceptions: Capital One, Discover and TD Bank).
  • You previously earned a Sapphire Preferred or a Sapphire Reserve bonus within the past 48 months. (Double-check your personal records, Chase bills, UR history for previous awards.)
  • You already have a Sapphire Preferred or a Sapphire Reserve account. (Being an authorized user on someone else's card does not count.)*
  • Your combined credit limits for all your Chase accounts is too high for Chase to grant you any more credit at this time. (Call their reconsideration line and request that the credit limits be reallocated to provide headway for your new Sapphire Preferred card. If I recall correctly, the minimum amount required for the Sapphire Preferred account is $5K.)
  • Your credit bureau account is currently locked. (You may have elected to lock it for security purposes at some point in the past.)
  • Your credit utilization ratio is too high. Note: It doesn't matter that you pay off your balances every month. The ratio is based on how much your credit is used (billed), not on how much debt you carry.
  • Chase was unable to verify your permanent address. (Call their reconsideration line to answer any questions about your address.)
  • Chase was unable to confirm your identity. (Call their reconsideration line to clear up any issues. I once had to provide a copy of my driver's license.)
  • Your verifiable income is too low. (Call their reconsideration line to explain your financial situation.)
  • There is something specific to your credit history that Chase has flagged. (Things such as an unreconciled dispute with an old Chase account may not show on your credit bureau history, but Chase tracks on its own.)**
Chase Reconsideration line: (888) 270-2127

* _ If you recently closed or downgraded your Sapphire account, it may still be in their system. Anecdotal reports have cited 4 days for downgraded accounts to clear and 30 days for closed accounts to clear. YMMV.

** _ When doing an in-branch application, sometimes applications appear to be blocked for no reason. If you are already a Chase customer and that happens, then have the banker create a new profile for yourself.

Wow thank you so much! This helps tremendously! If I had to pick one, I'd say it's the combined credit limits within Chase.
Would you happen to have the phone number for the reconsideration line?
Thank you šŸ™

It didn't say, all it said is that I was going to get a letter in 7-10 days explaining why.
BTW:

I suggest that you NEVER wait for any letter.

Instead, immediately call their Reconsideration Line to find out precisely what information they need or what steps need to be taken to get your card approved. Most of the time, it is something very simple that can be reconciled over the phone.

Went to a branch yesterday and told him I wanted to apply. He pulled up the 80k/50 grocery/95 waiver deal.
I told him it should be 80+20k. He insisted it was not. Turned the screen to show me.
I suggested he call and ask. He dialed right away, gave them some sort of banker ID and the lady on the other end confirmed it. 5 min approval.

Poor guy said, "I wish you had come in earlier today. I turned away 3 clients and told them they're better off applying online to get the 100k deal".

For those who downgraded their CSR or CSP earlier, is Freedom Unlimited the only option of product change? I have never had Unlimited although I have the old Freedom and Freedom Flex. I don't want to product change my CSP to CFU and lose the signup bonus of CFU in future.
