I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

For those that applied when it was 80K, were you able to get chase to match the current 100K offer? Did you have to call or was messaging them enough?
No. I messaged twice and was declined both times.

I have all 3 major credit agencies with a freeze on my info. I already have a chase freedom card. Does anyone know which credit bureau chase used for this card? Already having an account, will a seperate credit check be run? I appreciate feedback from anyone with experience (or knows where the answer is in this monster thread)

I googled and found out that chase sapphire preferred uses Experian from search results so I unfreeze my Experian account and applied for the credit card. I got a message something about pending review. Instead of waiting to get responses in the mail, I called customer service and she told me to unfreeze the other two credit reports. My application was instantly approved after I unfreeze all 3 credit bureaus while I was on the phone with chase customer service.

I wasn't sure about the $50 grocery credit. Swiped my new card at Food Lion and I see in the Chase app that I earned that amount in grocery credits already. Smilie

Question: if I previously had a CSP (years ago) but the account was closed, am I eligible to apply for it again?

Went to branch yesterday and my wife applied and was approved. Their system shows 80k points but she consulted with a coworker which said it is actually 100k points. Even after approval, the paperwork said 80k points. We contacted Customer service after we left for clarification, and sure enough they told us it is 100k points! That put us at ease.

What is their credit Recon number? I tried 888-270-2127 and was told 2min wait but in fact, waiting over 20mins now.

Update: Finally I got thru the queue after 30mins then the rep transferred me to the fraud dept. I was on hold again for an additional 60mins and the call got disconnected(felt like I got disconnected from their end). WTF happening with CHASE?

I have a CSR card which I got bonus more than 4 years back. I am planning to downgrade it to a Freedom Unlimited card and apply for the CSP card.
How long do I have to wait after downgrading the CSR to Freedom card so that things doesn't get messed up?
I am about to convert my CSR to freedom as well. Someone said that the minimum waiting time should be at least 3 days, 7 days should be better to be safe.
Another question comes, by using CSR, points earned worth 50% more than 25%, through using CSP.

Cash back on this is 1.25 per 100 points when looking at the information on chases site, not just a bonus for travel and dining. Am I missing something?

Also since you have to spend the 4000 that you get points on, does this make the total 104000 pts, the equivalent of 1300 bucks?

Just an FYI, I did the same and I'm on day10 with no offer in branch. Chase told me it's 30 days.

Can someone that has done the downgrade and applied and got approved for CSP share some data on how long they had to wait? Someone else said wait time is 30 days.

Follow up:

After approval, I went back to the branch and had the same banker that helped me this morning call and put in the request to have the AF waived and to apply the grocery credit. The first representative he spoke with said that they had a meeting this morning and that they are clearly told that the AF can NOT be waived for anyone applying online.

He escalated to a supervisor, and because a glitch in the system prevented me from applying in branch, the supervisor was willing to put in a request to the appropriate department at Chase to waive the fee and apply the grocery credit. Despite that fact that Chase agents said that I would be required to apply online and that the branch could then call and have the AF removed, I have been told that the request is no guarantee that the fee will be waived.

I'm hoping for a positive outcome, but some issues are still up in the air. I should receive a decision in writing in 7-10 business days.

Hopefully this helps anyone that may be having the same issue as me - being unable to apply in branch. Know that it takes a bit of extra work, but you can get approved, but the branch benefits may still be denied to you.

Good luck!
FOLLOW UP

I received a letter today saying that my request to "refund" the Annual Fee was DENIED. This seems to be an important distinction - refund vs waive.

I went in to the branch and spoke with the banker that I worked with. He was surprised to see that the annual fee has NOT yet been charged to my account. He spoke with another Chase representative, and they claimed that the annual fee should post immediately upon approval for the card. If I don't see the fee, it has been waived.

It does not appear that I get the grocery credit, but at least the fee appears to have been waived.

I waited 7 business days. Downgraded June 6, applied and approved June 15.

I was NOT able to apply in branch, however, and had to apply as a guest online to get the deal. See my posts in this thread if you want to read the whole saga. You may have similar experiences.

Note - when I applied as a guest, I was not able to see the "Learn More" link within the "Apply for a Card" section of the Chase app when logged in. This link appeared 10 business days after I downgraded my Sapphire Reserve. Had I waited this amount of time, I likely would have been able to apply in branch and saved myself the hassles I've faced. If you see that link, you're almost certainly good to go, but the banker at your local branch can call and fully confirm that you're eligible for the bonus.

has someone tried redeeming the grocery credit? does it deduct pretty quickly like the reserve?

Edit: nevermind, just saw that someone is got the credit right after spending money at a grocery store. looks like it's working like the reserve and other chase cards
