I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Thanks for your input. Really helpful. One question though…will I still get the extended warranty if I convert it to Chase Freedom in 11 months or so even before the extended warranty kicks in? Thanks
If the card that you purchased your item on is no longer active then you lose your extended warranty coverage.

Note: I've always assumed this to mean that I would lose the extended warranty when I downgraded my card. However, I'm not certain of this.

I do not trust Chase's Customer Service for an authoritative answer to such an esoteric question. So I posed the question to the insurer (Asurion). I registered my CSP card on their website and used the Contact Us link to post the question.
https://www.cardbenefitservices.com/UserAccess/Login[ [cardbenefitservices.com]

The auto response was that Card Member Services would respond within 5 business days. I'll be on vacation in San Diego, but I'll try to post their answer as soon as I can get to it.

* * * * *

EDIT: Response from Asurion: They cannot answer my question about coverage after the card is downgraded. According to them, the conditions for insurance is set by Chase - not by Asurion.

Ironically, the Asurion agent went on to say that if the card was terminated, that their extended warranty would still apply since the extended warranty was based on when the item was purchased by the respective card.

That explanation seemed odd to me. If, indeed, the coverage was set by when the item was purchased by the respective card ... then what difference does it make whether the card was subsequently closed or subsequently downgraded?

I believe that Asurion responded via telephone to my written question specifically to avoid being held accountable for such answers. Paperbag

YMMV.

yes, as long as the account is open you'll still get extended warranty coverage, even after it's converted to freedom. moreover, freedom offers the same extended warranty benefit anyway.

also, you should not downgrade in 11 months, and wait at least 12 months from account opening date. you'll get 30 days from when the second annual fee posts to convert it to freedom and qualify for a full refund. past that, you still get a prorated refund.

I did not know about waiting 12 months before converting to chase freedom. Thanks for this information. I will hold off from converting until after the anniversary.

why would he do that? Slickdeals generate commission via the link so they won't promote other avenues to get the same card even if the offer there is better. The only trusted source of financial related products and services, is Doctor of Credit.

Love how im just trying to buy a laptop in store and the card reject me. It worked for other smaller purchases already. Now I'm on the phone trying to reach a customer service person and been waiting for over 20 minutes just to talk to a person. They can't send like a text or notification over an app like other cards. This crap is like in the 90s.

Edit: Another customer support told me another 15 minutes for fraud protection team. So nearly 45 minutes hold up while I'm in store..... What a shitty card customer services that has an annual fee of $95. What a joke.

90 minutes so far still on hold in store. Sheesh, imagine if I have something worst than just verifying for fraud protection. Ima cancel this card after the 1st year for sure

Would this work: I go to the bank with the wife, both applying for this card.
Let's say, I'm approved, can I then immediately refer her? Yeah, I know I'm getting a bit greedy...

Referral only works online. It will work if you apply in branch and then come home and refer your wife and she applies online.

Or you could skip in branch and do the reddit referral. Some poster said on here there's some validation method reddit uses to ensure payment. Doubt anyone is going to go read that unless that poster wants to outline it for us.

You should be able to. My wife was able to refer someone through the Chase app before receiving her card. If you refer her you can't also get the in branch bonuses for her as well. So its either referral bonus(20k points) or branch bonus($95 AF, $50 Grocery credit). In your case the referral is better I'm sure your aware but you would each have to spend 4k in 3 months.

Thanks! Spending $4k each, our medical bills alone are at least $6k.

I just noticed that the Chase Sapphire Preferred that showed up with excellent odds of approval on Credit Karma for me and my wife a week ago, are now gone!
Chase is likely limiting approval of these cards now. I feel we will most likely get rejected at the bank tomorrow. Our credit scores are 825 & 810.
