I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

My wife downgraded her card last Thursday and we went to apply in branch yesterday, but she was unable to do so. The rep said there is a known system glitch that if you recently downgraded or close a previous Sapphire card that the system will still see it, despite your online account showing your new card with a different number. She said that its happened to about 7 other people recently and that she put notes on their accounts. The rep said to contact customer service once the annual fee hits and ask them to match in the branch promotions and to review the notes on the account. They should update your account to reflect the in branch promotions. She gave her contact information if for some reason they deny it, she'll call and have them push it through.

Yep this is what my rep did, she said she filed a complaint for me and that chase would reach out in the next week to call about it. Will definitely request the in-branch bonuses.

How can they get to the point "once the annual fee hits", if the system blocks them from applying?

Did you mean to say that after attempting to apply in-branch, if you subsequently applied online and were approved, that you should ask for the in-branch match?

Have you followed through and been successful?

To date, all other reports have been that online applications do not qualify for in-branch promotions. Yours would be the first exception.

For online applicants, how long did it take for you to get your card?

No, if that's all they said they needed, you're probably okay at this point.

That happened to me one time (thought it was a most unusual request, but followed through anyway).

At the time, I felt like the request for an ID check was almost a random, arbitrary request. Like they were conducting the check just to give me a hard time. In retrospect, I think that it was indeed arbitrary ... but not to give me a hard time. I think I was just part of a random sampling, something on the order of 1/100 or less.

Did your banker try creating a guest profile and apply?

If I recall correctly, I submitted a copy of my ID and then called back the Recon line. They confirmed receipt and immediately approved my card. However, that was 8-10 years ago.

She just applied for the card this morning and her online application was just approved. I haven't contacted Customer Service yet.

The bank rep told me that since we tried to apply in branch first and was unable to do so due to a known Chase system error that we should get approved for the in branch promotions. I will reach out to them tomorrow once the card shows up on the account.

No, she didn't. I didn't know about that option, if I did, I would have had her try.

The problem is that (in my experience), Chase's bank managers have little influence on policy matters. So, they can't give or take away perks that the corporate office lays out.

The only thing they can do is to have Chase's corporate office revise its policy, i.e., make universal exceptions due to its system problems. Cool2

Why don't you give Recon some time to have your app showing up on their system platform? Remember you just applied today! It is not like you submit your app today and they see your app instantly. Most systems from back office only get daily batch updated once a day. Call back 2 days later.

OK, the Recon line said they needed me to email them my ID, which I submitted after my call. So call them again for status or wait?

Thank you, it started showing up this morning!

On 7/13 evening I had lifted the freeze on all 3 credit bureaus temporarily just for 1 day before applying for the card. I first tried applying from within card offers on my chase account where the 100k points offer was showing up there as well. It went into review stage. I tried calling the reconsideration line but it wouldn't even recognize my SSN. I thought may be it was because I had applied too soon within seconds of lifting the freeze. So I applied again through the link on this thread. This time too, review message. I called the reconsideration line again but this time it recognized my SSN and customer service rep said it was because they couldn't give me anymore additional credit due to my other cards at Chase. They offered to reduce the credit on of one my other cards and approved the new card. I was able to instantly see the card on my app.

Now I think TransUnion and Equifax put the credit freeze back at 11.59pm CT on 7/13 (start of day of 7/14), while I believe Experian expires at 11.59pm CT on 7/14 (end of day 7/14).
At 12.06am CT on 7/14, I got an instant alert notification from TransUnion that there was an attempt to pull my credit report by Chase moments ago (they claim their alerting is instant and within seconds of a credit pull attempt) and it was denied as my credit was frozen. Coincidentally this was seconds after I finished speaking with chase card services as I wanted to verify if my account was all setup correctly with the bonus etc. and the representative asked my full SSN couple of times while trying to pull up my new card account. Wondering if I should be worried about the second attempt to pull my credit report which was denied. I don't see any alerts showing on Experian or Equifax other than the successful hard pulls of 7/13 which I also see on TransUnion as well.
How soon after lifting a freeze on yoru credit reports should you apply for the card assuming there are no other issues. 1 hour? 12 hours? 24 hours?

Thanks all, tried all three methods and seems like im out of luck. I get the error message below when trying a referral of my Sapphire. Works with my freedom, but not Sapphire.

"We are unable to locate any offers for you at this time.
The offer you are attempting to access is not available for the card account you entered. If you have another account, please try signing in using that card's information."
Only those with a CSP card specifcially can refer others to CSP. Do you have a CSP?
