I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

I'm at the branch. I had to educate them. They called twice to their CC reps. Only the last one knew about the promo.

PER THE INTERNAL CC REP, DEAL WILL END ON THE 17TH SO APPLY NOW!!
"Someone on Dan's deals just said rep told her that online will expire on 15th, and in branch the 17th. Really hope that's wrong because I would miss it by a day or 2! Wish they'd just let us know."

Applied for this card today @ the branch. Austin TX. Got the 80k plus 20k points , 1st year fee waived off, $50 grocery credit. Thanks to OP/everyone who found this added advantage by applying at the branch.

I had this card 4 years ago. It was 50k points plus 1st year fee waived off at that time.

It took some time at the branch. they had to call some number and then they split/transferred my credit limit from existing card to this new card. She gave me expedited shipping option to get it in 2-3 business days.

Looks like the offer is there till July 17th only.

Better book an appointment through the app and go. They don't have slots for walk ins, mostly.

The problem with talking with any of Chase's agents (regardless of whether it is online or in-branch) is their lack of credibility.

Much like what happens in this discussion group, some of them tend to recite whatever they've heard or think they've heard. Even when they show the customer a written policy, there have been instances where the policy has been superceded and the agent wasn't aware of it.

And thank you for the report. It adds another datapoint for us to track the situation. Popcorn

EDIT: That Dan's Deal citation is for this discussion:

It's a reported conversation, but not one that I'd place a whole lot of confidence in. Read it and make your own judgment.

There is also the issue of Chase Preferred's benefits changing on Aug 15 and they need to give 1 month's notice. Since, the cards benefits itself are improving, who knows if Chase will chose to scale back on the bonus points. July 15 is 1 month before Aug 15 so when someone on Dan's deals said that a Chase rep. said the online offer will disapper on July 15 maybe there is some credence to it. Anyway, we will know soon enough.

Well, if we were applying logic to this situation, wouldn't it make sense for Chase to terminate both the online and the in-branch offer on the same day?

But it seems Chase thrives on uncertainty. Perhaps there is some genius to their madness that escapes our mundane thinking. I'd hate to think that they really are as disorganized as they seem to appear.

I suspect the in-branch offer is because July 17 is the last day of the work week and they dodn't want to confuse their bankers on a change mid-week (or at least that is my theory).

Separately, I think it is a shame that some Chase branches currently continue to indicate 80K bonus points even thought on the backend they have programmed it to be 100K.

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/ch...nnual-fee/

"Here's how it'll work: during signup the offer will be showing the older offer of 80,000 points after spending $4,000, waived $95 annual fee, and $50 grocery credit. After meeting the spend, you'll get the 80,000 points bonus and you'll also automatically get a separate credit for 20,000 points. This is detailed in a memo being sent out to bankers, see below.

We wrote earlier today that the 100,000 offer is already available in some branches, yet readers reported being told that they were only being told about the 80,000 + $50 offer. In fact, some of the official signage will continue to show the 80,000 offer, but Chase has assured bankers that an additional 20,000 points will automatically be applied once the spend is met. Both points bonuses will credit on the same statement when you meet the spend, as detailed in the memo."

By the way, the branch offer supposedly ends July 17 while that of rival Capital One (also 100K offer) ends July 18.

How long does it take for spouse 20K referral points to show up in his or her account? In 1 week, or 1 month?

I haven't made any referrals, but it's been reported that the person making the referral sees it in his first monthly bill AFTER the first transaction on the new account is recorded.
https://slickdeals.net/f/15070267-chase-sapphire-preferred-card-spend-4-000-in-first-3-months-earn-100k-points?p=148319368#post148319368

So, unlike the $100K Sign-up Bonus, which is awarded on the transaction date of the $4K purchase (not tied to the monthly billing cycle), the 20K Referral Bonus is indeed tied to the monthly billing cycle.

Based on the numerous reports of SDers who are waiting to get their referral bonus after their wives or spouses have made their initial purchases, it seems likely that this is the case.

EDIT: The timing of your monthly bills makes a difference. So, you'll see the referral bonus in the first or the second monthly bill after the new account is approved (not after the first transaction).

No, you do not need to be a Chase bank member to apply for one of their credit cards.

One of the reasons for the in-branch application incentives is to draw customers just like yourself and to give the banker the opportunity to sell you on their other products. However, you are under no obligation to sign up for anything else. The credit card offer stands alone.

BTW, I had thought that being a bank member would make it easier for me to qualify for one of the bank's credit cards.

But last week, when I spoke to one of my credit union's loan officers, she told me that every application goes through the same screening process. If this is true of credit unions (which are supposed to be member-friendly), I would guess that this holds true for banks as well.

BTW, you might want to review all your options, eligibility requirements, deadlines, etc.
