I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Account closure would take a longer time than a product change/downgrade to reflect on Chase system. It may take as many as 30 days while a product change may take 5 to 7 days.
I actually waited 7 days after a product change and their system at the branch said I currently have a Chase Sapphire product even though I changed it to a Freedom Flex the week before. Not sure if there is an actual answer here and seems to vary. I've seen some people in this thread said they went in 3 days after a product change and were able to apply - seems to be very inconsistent unfortunately.
We've got a sizeable purchase coming up next month for our house, and I was originally looking into cards with 0% intro rates to just let us pay it off over time with no interest... but this bonus is pulling me in. Neither of us have ever had Sapphire cards (we each only have Freedom cards currently).
Would it make sense to apply, refer my husband, he applies, we split the purchase (contractor said this is fine), profit? Basically giving ourselves a $2200 discount?
This isn't the ideal rewards card for us, and at least one of us would end up downgrading to a Freedom Unlimited or something after... but other options don't have offers like this.
The trick is you earn 5x pts from rotating categories on Freedom and transfer the points to CSP for 1.25x redemption value.

Probably because the points on spending on the card is kind of low. It's just 2x dining/travel, 1x other (supposed to get better on August 15). There's other cards that can earn higher points for various categories and the redeem options aren't super if don't travel at all. So then those types of people will just hit the spend, get the 100k UR and then dump the card in a year. Even the free cards like Freedom are 3x dining now.
Yup, this would be the ideal situation to apply for the CSP when you have big purchases coming up and potentially save you $2200 in cash value or even $2750 if paying yourself back for purchases from Home Depot or Lowes. But keep in mind that unlike other credit cards, CSP does not offer 0% APR on purchases for first 15 months.

It takes a few days for a downgraded account to process in Chase's system. More than likely, it simply processed out by the time you applied today. Reference: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/my...-approval/
This discussion thread is full of similar anecdotal experiences, varying from 2 to 4 days.
7 days had passed since I downgraded and I still showed up as not having CSP as an option. It was only two days after I paid off the CSR balance that it became an option. In my case I have to assume the rep knew what she was talking about. YMMV
Anyone able to sign up in branch and get the $50 grocery credit? I read somewhere that the credit promotion expired on the 17th but can still get first year waived.

I applied in branch today. The first year af is waived but no more $50 grocery discount

Yeah, that's best value for earning UR but either way it's not putting long-term spend on the CSP at a store because CSP everyday earnings are a bit low compared to a lot of other cards that someone might have. The redeem value is still good, especially for travelers.
Hopefully PYB sticks around long-term but currently it's only scheduled for Sept 30 and beyond that, there's no real updates on if they'll change the categories or even just drop it. I know they keep extending the end date but we'll see. It was originally supposed to be just a covid thing to help retention since no one could travel.

Pyb is only useful if you continue to use this card. Can you get statement credits and if your balance is negative then ask for a check to be sent to you? Most people on here have other more lucrative cards to use once the min spend is met.
i just downgraded the CSR yesterday and the rep said expecting 3-5 days to get the new card. I'm planning to apply the CSP online, how long should I wait? maybe after I received the downgraded card and activated it?
