I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Cancelled on 6/14 so maybe need to give it a couple more days. I have an appointment with 1 other branch Thursday so we will see what happens. Will circle back
Quote from bru_that :
Chase doesn't reset your eligibility for In-Branch applications until 30 days after downgrade. Or if you are lucky, once your next statement cycle begins. If you applying sooner, you have to apply online. No way around it.
There is a possible way around it:
https://slickdeals.net/f/15070267-chase-sapphire-preferred-card-spend-4-000-in-first-3-months-earn-100k-points?p=148112920#post148112920

At least it worked for downgraded cards that were still in the system. YMMV.

Yes, that works. The other person can use your card to pay for their Peloton membership. Chase automatically puts a credit on your statement for the same amount as the Peloton charge. The Peloton account and your cc don't have to have the same name or anything.
Can someone apply a 1 time charge to their Peloton account? For example, can I give a friend my cc number, have them charge $60, and not have to set it as a monthly card for membership fee? Also, does that $60 count towards the spend even though it is being credited?

Prepaying bills for normal businesses (utilities/insurance/etc.) is fine. Taxes are fine too. Business gift cards (like Costco/Amazon) are fine. Visa gift cards are more questionable.

Some of the other "cash-like transactions" mentioned above are also more questionable, like crypto, venmo to a friend, etc. Chase specifically called those out as not counting when they updated their policies in April this year: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/ch...k-funding/

If you're going to roll the dice on cash transactions at least set your cash advance limit to 100 so the transaction will decline if it's coded as a cash advance (and the amount you're trying is >100) instead of a purchase. It seems kind of random on what will count and also changes over time as they adjust what they actually enforce.

I have another question - are these points taxable like checking account bonuses?
Do credit cards furnish IRS with this bonus info? I'd assume if points are used to pay your balance, then they are more like store rebates... But cc unlike store rebates have all your info.
thanks

CC signup bonuses are not taxable and not reported to the IRS.

CC referral bonuses MAY be reported, depending on the bank, and usually if they exceed $600 in a year.

One person goes to branch to apply -- $95 annual fee is waived in branch

Generate referral link using first person's card then other person applies for card using referral link -- P2 pays $95 annual fee online but P1 gets 20k referral pts worth at least $200
How do you generate a referral? I havent been able to do so. I even msg Chase CSR and was told there is no referrer offer right now., Frown

People actually asking how they can spend 4k in 3 months???? That's like 1300 a month. Are you telling me you don't spend 1300 in expenses after housing? Food, utilities, cell phone, transportation etc??
Exactly! Are these people serious? I put everything, like everything on my credit card and never paid a dime of finance charges. 3 to 4K a month is what I charged on average monthly on my Capital 1 Venture.
I will be applying for this card soon in branch and take advantage of this offer!

People happen to have other credit cards which make more sense to use.

How is spending being a big baller? Any moron can spend. How much do you earn and what is your net worth is the proper question.

Google "chase refer a friend" -- enter your last name/zip code/last 4 card number

CSP has referrals but CSR doesn't -- need CSP to refer to CSP

Anyone know if they are going to do a new promotion to replace the $50 grocery credit when signing up in branch? I know you can still get the first year waived but can't get the grocery credit anymore.
