I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

That's great if you spend. But this is SD. Most of us don't spend. Plus alot of us prepaid alot of bills with the $4k. That's even less bills to spend the $1250 on. You are basically converting this to a $5250 spend to get 100k points card. Would everyone be jumping at this if that was originally advertised?
Speak for yourself dude. I and the Mrs both got the card and will have a 8K spend to get the 220K points between the two cards. You gotta eat and buy stuff. Just use this card till you can use up the points or start requesting straight cash credits till you get at least the 1K if not 1250.
it makes zero sense to get $1000 cash when you can get $1250 credit towards your bill under PYB.
That is if you plan to use this card as your primary card. I was able to score over $300 worth of credit in PYB on my first statement and I have 11 more months to go.
Can someone help me If I currently have a CSP but have had it for like 5 years. Could I downgrade this card and get this promotion? What if I wanted the Freedom Ultimate promotion as well? Could I close this account then sign up for the freedom ultimate and for this promo?
I have the same question, and straggling to decide whether downgrade CSR to freedom and apply for CSP. I do not have lots of UR points in my account now.
My CSR annual fee will post on next January, so I can still get $300 credit to be spent on this December.
I will probably need Priority pass benefit at airport lounges.
I will upgrade back to CSR for sure next year and downgrade the CSP (if I can get it approved) to chase freedom.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks!
Many people struggle with the decision to either keep their Reserve Card or to downgrade it (or otherwise close the account). They have a hard time justifying the annual fee because they don't take advantage of all the card's perks. However, that is a straight balancing equation. Benefits versus cost.
Your situation is different. You're mulling over keeping the Reserve card versus downgrading it and picking up a 100K CSP bonus.
For me, that would be a no-brainer. Downgrade the CSR to Freedom. Wait a few days for the system to process the downgrade, then apply for a new CSP. Earn the 100K bonus. One year from now, upgrade from the CSP to CSR. Redeem the 100K bonus @ 1.5X points using the Reserve.

Make that 2 more months. Currently, the PYB program is scheduled to expire on September 30, 2021. No one knows whether Chase plans on extending it. https://frequentmiler.com/chase-p...self-back/
I have a different view in the SD community though; that is, most of us do spend and thus we are here to find a way to save more $$$. As a dad and husband of a family of 4, there are certain fixed expenses every month such as groceries, gas, dining, and home improvement. These are all usual expenses for ordinary people. And groceries, dining, home improvement all fall into Pay Yourself Back categories. So when you say the Pay Yourself Back option is useless, it might be useless to you but it is probably useful to many of us.
If you do not need to pay anything for your food, your gas, and maintain your home, then you are a very lucky person. Peace.
Has nothing to do with luck. Everyone knows having a family is expensive. Its a choice.

Some of us take a whole year to spend 8k on credit card charges. Not everyone marries a spendy wife. Although those are the hottest ones. But it'll cost you.

And also there are other cards that offer $500 for $3k spend. If I'm going to spend more than this $4k, I'd rather spend using that card and get more bonus. If anyone successfully uses pyb to get a check, please notify the community so that we don't have to spend extra on this card unnecessarily.

Exactly, another 60k points for 4k spend on csr is way better than $250 pyb bonus on $1250 spend. I'd rather use that $1250 spend towards the csr. Best case scenario is get $1250 pyb and cash that out via check without additional spend and then work on your csr 60k bonus.

Who said anything about spendy wives? Our home owner's and auto insurance alone is over 2.5K.
We normally do not have trouble with charges because we rarely use cash and writing checks is almost unheard of. With 2 kids, charges rack up rather quickly and I mean routine necessary charges not the spendy kind.

If you're adventurous, after downgrading the CSR to Freedom, you can try double-dipping.
