I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

You are very welcome and I am glad to lend a helping hand. Also congrats to your success of capitalizing the PYB credits. I am just too lazy and purchased $4K out of $8K spending threshold on prepaid Visa/MC gift cards when Staples offered no fees on these cards a few weeks ago, and $2K of Amazon GCs from supermarket with 1.25x PYB redemption value. With this I'll save my time on monitoring my spending. 200K total points for me and my wife will be credited next week. Applause
Nice. Did not think of Amazon GCs from a grocery store with that 1.25 PYB benefit. I might come out ahead with that than prepaying the utilities. Smilie

Again, brain washed fear. What are the odds this happens? 0.001%? You won't be able to sleep at night knowing you are at risk so keep paying. This is why having no possessions is real actual freedom.

Who said I have to track my gift cards? I don't need to. Whenever I purchase something in the categories that only earn 1 points, I put them on my prepaid Visa/MC. Once the prepaid credit is depleted, I throw it away. What kind of tracking does it require? It is that simple. By the way, I just returned from Costco today and paid my stuffs with my prepaid Visa. As I mentioned earlier, these are usual every month expenses for an ordinary family. If I don't put them on my prepaid Visa, they would be on my other credit cards anyway.

How is this lazy? This is even more work. Now you have to track your gift cards and ensure you spend them all. The only thing you did was remove the 3 month time limit. Although you did say you spend alot so you'll only have to track for a month or two. For frugal people, you'd have to track these gift cards for months or even years. Lots of stories of gift cards being lost or skimmed without people even knowing.

Same with the Amazon GCs. Load them in the Amazon account and use them as one of the payment methods if there are no points benefits on the CCs.

The reason I purchased the Amazon GCs is only because the purchases qualify for 1.25x PYB redemption rate. I have a Amazon Visa (not Prime) that earns 3% CB from Amazon purchases. The more GCs I load up on Amazon, the more I will "lose". In addition, I don't use GCs to pay for anything that needs warranty protection. I always pay with credit cards for such things with additional warranty provided.

Anyone know how long the offer is going to last (online and in person at bank). I am unable to apply before 8/2 but looks like the offer may only be available until 7/30.

I thought all the posts had been saying it was also a 100k bonus when applying in the branch?

I just got 100k in branch and no AF. Applied today.

At this point there is no concrete answer when the 100K pts offer is going to end. What is sure about is the offer will be extended till the end of July at least, both online and in-branch. Another member here mentioned he had read somewhere the offer will end in September but he didn't provide with a source of such info.

So, if I sign up and get approved, if I spend $3,000 in first 3 months on most anything (including bills) I can apply the bonus points as statement credits of $1,000?

That's a great idea on the no fee Visa cards. What's the best way to find a deal like that since the Staples offer seems over? I need to read up on a lot of your posts it seems. Thanks for the insights.

Yes, but you need to send $4k and what you should do is spend $1250 of that $4k at a grocery store buying visa/Mastercard gift cards or any gift cards and then when you hit the spend requirement you will receive the 100k points. Cash out the points for a $1250 PYB statement credit on that grocery store charge. Now you just turned that $1k credit into $1250 less your gift card fees.

Staples has the similar offers pretty often. Indeed they offered no fee Mastercard in one week, followed by no fee Visa in another week back-to-back. Just keep an eye on their weekly ads online. If you have 3 months for your spend, I am sure Staples will come up with another similar offer within the same period.

Good idea - I assume there are no issues purchasing the gift cards if done at a grocery store (they show as grocery purchases)? Is the idea that you get bonus points for groceries (I'm not seeing that as a current offer).

Can I pay off the balance on the card at any time w/o affecting the credits?

Thanks again

The idea in this case is you can get 1.25 cents per point redeemed as credits against grocery purchases with PYB, rather than taking it as 1 cent pp in cash.

Though of course travel redemptions, especially transfers, can get significantly more value than either.
