I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

I never had a chase sapphire but have been using a chase freedom forever. between bills and credit card purchases, i pay off about $3k/month. can i upgrade to this sapphire card (instead of getting a new one), and then downgrade it a year later?
You won't get the sign up bonus if you upgrade (change products). You'll need to add a new card to qualify for the bonus.

If you did a product change (from Freedom to Sapphire), you would forego the 100K bonus and $50 hotel credit for the 1st year. Is that what you really want to do?

The upgrade would probably require a hard pull of your credit history, same as for a new card application. So, I don't see any advantage to that strategy.

And if you applied for a new card, you could do a product change at the end of the year to a Freedom, giving you two Freedom accounts (you may hold multiple Freedom accounts).

If you do end up with two Freedom accounts, I suggest that you make the second one a Freedom Ultimate. That way, you get 5% from rotating categories with the Freedom Flex and 1.5% on all other purchases from the Freedom Ultimate ... a nice, one-two punch!

Approved in branch today, 100k points after 4K spent, annual fee waived first year, $50 hotel credit, $17,500 credit limit, do they send you something in the mail with your fico score that they pulled ? The branch said they couldn't see it.

Question that I have not seen...I have a Chase Sapphire (not preferred) and it is my oldest credit card...had it for like 16 years. if I downgraded it to apply for this offer, would that affect my credit rating because it would be seen as closing/ resetting my oldest account?

It's not resetting account. No impact to credit score.

One of the nice features of making a product change (either an upgrade or a downgrade), is that you maintain the account's credit history.

What is good about product change your Sapphire card to some other no-fee card rather than canceling the card is you will retain the account age and the credit limit. These are important factors to your credit score. Account age affects your average age of credit. Credit limit affects your overall credit utilization. Now if you product change your CSP to another card, no adverse impact to your credit score since you will retain the account history and the credit limit from the old card to the new card.

I applied online with a referral link; I didn't see "your new account bonus" section when I logged in to my account. Does anyone have the same situation? I called Chase customer service and the rep. confirmed that I am quailed.

Holy cow what do you buy that costs 3k per month? Do you own a small business?

Seems like they removed the $50 grocery credit. I applied today in branch and was approved. I was planning on purchasing a $50 Amazon gift card at a grocery store to get the $50 credit, but I guess I won't be able to do that anymore. Oh well...

I recently opened a credit card at the beginning of august. But that only used 1 of the 5/24 so if I applied for this card it's be the second one in 24 months. I'm concern that I'll get denied in branch if I went to apply. Do any of you think this would factor as a reason for me to get rejected?

Wanted to add my data point. Applied in branch three days ago. Did not get approved or denied so the banker called customer service and the rep asked me to confirm my info/income. I did so and they said that I am approved but would need to move my credit line from another/other chase cards in order to open the card, so I did that. The max I could transfer from each card was $20k. I also asked them to expedite the shipping and the card came on the second business day, so two days after I applied.

Edit: I only applied in branch so that I could get the first year annual fee waived. Other than that there's no extra perks.

FYI, if you want to upgrade to the Reserve after getting the SUB, you would need to wait 13 months since the preferred was opened.
