I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Is it true in branch application will not give referral points to person who referred me? Which is better $100 waived for first year or 20k referral points? How much is 20k points worth in $ amount?
You need to pick one -- online referral or waived fee in branch

20k pts = $200 min but you can get $250 value using Pay Yourself Back

Has anybody tried putting let's say $2k into their draftkings account using their sapphire preferred cc? I believe it shows up as a purchase even though you are depositing

For online applications: Approximately half the time of (twice as fast as) in-branch applications. Sorry, I didn't keep a tally of the online applications.

Thank you so much. I'll attempt next week granted the promotion is available.

cool. I will have to check it out. travel.chase.com is down right now ;(

I have AAdvantage reward mastercard also. Wondering if chase is better.
Then again the citi MC i have with 2% unlimited cashback on everything with no limit is just so much easier to keep track of....lol

Chase points are more valuable generally than AA miles, and the bonus categories are better and higher too.

The only value in any AA credit card, apart from the signup bonuses, are the ways it can let you bypass most of the drawbacks of basic economy.

The one other time it can be worth it- if you travel a lot, specifically on american, and specifically through a lot of airports with admirals clubs- in which case the high annual fee AA card is a cheaper way to get admirals club membership.

The AA card isn't unique either, most airline cards are pretty crap for general use but CAN be worth hanging on to beyond signups for other perks depending on how much you travel on a specific airline.

After I used the bonus points is it a good idea to downgrade right away or wait for yearly fee to hit in 11 months and down grade?

You are not allowed to downgrade the card during the first year. As soon as you see the next annual fee hits your account, you will have reached the first anniversary. Then you call Chase to product change/downgrade your card. In general, you can have a full refund of the annual fee within 30 days after the fee is posted to your account when you request the downgrade.

You can downgrade to any of those cards, meaning you can have multiple freedoms/unlimited/flex

You're correct as far as being able to have multiple Freedom accounts.

However, I don't believe that there is an option to downgrade to a basic Freedom card. As I understand it, the basic Freedom card is no longer being issued (current cardholders are grandfathered in).

I didn't know you can have multiple of the same card! I guess I will end up downgrading to either the flex or unlimited then.

Check with the rep, I was able to downgrade to freedom card after it was grandfathered.
