I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Probably was answered earlier in the thread but is the annual fee charged after the first year? So can I cancel or downgrade before the year is up to avoid paying it?

For applications made in-branch, the annual fee is waived for the first year. You can avoid paying the next year's annual fee by canceling the card or making a product change.
You should keep the card a minimum of one year to avoid potential backlash. Creditors frown on people with histories of terminating cards in less than a year.
If your credit history is young, you probably should downgrade. If your credit history is mature, it probably doesn't matter whether you cancel or change product. And there are a select few who should upgrade (no need to elaborate, they know who they are).
You're entitled to a complete refund of the annual fee, provided you make the request within 30 days of when it is charged. Later than that, you're entitled to a pro-rated refund upon request.
Is there any issues with referring my wife to get a card at a branch? Would she still get the 100k and me my referral bonus? Do you think the promo will run into October?
Referral must be done online. No referral in branch. Your wife will get 100K points and $50 hotel credit from either option below if approved, assuming meeting $4K minimum spend.
1. $95 AF waived when applying in branch.
2. Sign up via your referral link and you get 20K points when she gets approved.
Chase has never made any official announcement about the end date. They increased the offer to 100K points in early June, and credit card welcome offers typically last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months until the budget of the promotion runs out, so it is best to act sooner if you're interested in this deal.

Thanks for the amazing reply. I guess technically my 20,000 is worth more than the waived af by applying in branch correct? So just have her do it online with my referral code?

I applied in branch, but was charged an annual fee on my statement.

You can downgrade after it posts and they'll refund the AF (as long as you don't wait months or something after).
They won't let you downgrade it sooner than 1 year anyway.
I also had my wife sign up using my referral link. However I didn't get any email that someone signed up using my referral link nor any notification that I'd get 20k points. What have been others experiences? Does the 20k points just show up?
That's weird. You are probably the first person here getting hit by AF when signing up in branch. Did you get a copy of the signed agreement from the banker when you signed up? It tells you right there your AF is waived for the first year.

For privacy issues, you won't get any kind of notifications when someone has signed up using your referral link. You invite someone to sign up, but whether he finally signs up is none of your business. Unfortunately, there is no way to check the status. You will receive your referral bonus points in the following statement once the invitee is approved.

yeah i got the copy, i'll check and call the bank.
i downgraded my CSR on thursday night and today i noticed that both sapphire cards appear under the "Open an account" dropdown of the webpage. is this a guaranteed indication that i am now eligible and won't have problems applying for the card? or should i wait a couple of more days to be safe? i don't want to mess this up, but at the same time i feel like the promotion will end any day now!
thanks
hello - does anyone have any input on this question? downgraded CSR on thursday and sapphire cards appeared under "Open an account" 2 days later (saturday). should i pull the trigger and apply now or wait a couple of more days?
thank you!
Called branch last Wednesday to confirm whether CSR was still showing in my account. Banker said it's not there anymore so I made an appt for branch application last Friday. Instantly approved on the spot.
So for me, it took 3 weeks after PC from CSR to flex.
