I mentioned the offer to my wife who is a Chase employee and she pulled it up on her internal system. It had a note that they had additional offers if you apply in a branch. You get the 100k points, 1st year AF waived, and a $50 grocery credit. So essentially an extra $145 for applying in the branch.
Wow. No brainer if you are eligible for the bonus.
I signed up for 80k offer just last week. Can I get chase to make it 100k?

Ink Business Plus? LoL, you did the same thing that I did ... failed to convert earlier to the Ink Business Cash (no annual fee). I've been paying the $95 annual fee for the Business Plus card for I-don't-know-how-many-years, when the Business Cash card has nearly the same benefits. The only difference is the Plus waives the foreign exchange fees.
Yah I haven't stay up to date with it all. Got too many credit cards lol. Guess I need to consider downgrading it to a free card looks like my ink business plus fee gets charged Jan 1 so will need to make that change over soon
Odd I never have any issue with new credit cards. I have several Chase cards but been awhile. Got a waiting approval message....not instant. First time for that blah
Ditto.
I used to get instant approvals ten years ago. More recently, it seems like 3 out of 4 get "pending review" messages. And my credit score is almost 100 points higher now than it was back then!
I think most of that has to do with Chase cutting down the total credit limit allowance. Seems like I have to reapportion the available credit limits between accounts now in order to get a new credit card approved, when that never happened before. I'm not sure, but I think I used to carry over $60K in available credit on Chase ... now it's down to $35K.
And Chase has slashed 80% off its Cash Credit Line from what it used to be. ā

Note1: Follow the MDD steps exactly, there is little room for error.
Note2: The timing for the MDD will differ between you and your wife, since she already applied for the CSP yesterday.

* _ It doesn't matter if you already have another Freedom account. You're allowed to have multiple Freedom Flex and multiple Freedom Unlimited cards.
8k spend is easily doable. 16k maybe pushing it in 3 months might need to do some manufactured spending. We have a 5k expense already planned in addition to our 3-5k a month average spend. So 16 might be within reach. We're both got 800+ fico high income and chase private client so no issues in qualifying I don't think. I think the $100 hotel credit may be dead. The idea of having two $550 fees doesn't excite me. Can we cancel or downgrade the CSR after the bonus is obtained and get a proration refund on the fee?
Question on the timing of the downgrade of my CSR. The annual fee gets assessed on Nov 1 which is right around the corner. Should I wait to downgrade until November after I can use up the additional $300 travel credit? (Can you buy a $300 airline gift card?)
Are you saying I can downgrade the CSR to freedom and get approved for the CSR again after two weeks?
I also have a no fee sapphire card, I think I got downgraded to that when I went from the CSP to the CSR years back. I presume I need that changed to a freedom card as well? Neither of us have any freedom cards
Yah I haven't stay up to date with it all. Got too many credit cards lol. Guess I need to consider downgrading it to a free card looks like my ink business plus fee gets charged Jan 1 so will need to make that change over soon
Forgot to mention in all the strategies:
Be sure to request a refund for any annual fees that you may have been charged for the old card(s).
You have 30 days from the date that the annual fee was charged in order to be eligible for a 100% refund.
If your request is later than the above cut-off date, you're entitled to a refund calculated on a pro rata basis.
So, I'd suggest changing from your Ink Business Plus card now, rather than waiting until January.

Yes, you could wait. But it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, you're trading one annual fee ($550) for one travel credit ($300) and little else to balance the equation.

Yes. Possessing any type of Sapphire card disqualifies you from applying for a new Sapphire Preferred card.
I was contemplating keeping my CSR, because I really like the card, but when they turned me down for the retention bonus some months ago, and then pumped up the annual fee to $550, I cashed out my few remaining UR points at 1.5x, ($300 travel credit already exhausted), put $60 worth of Doordash orders through (to burn that perk before downgrading), dumped all of my other UR cards' points onto the CSR, cashed them out at 1.5x too, and then took my poor old CSR out to the back pasture, said goodbye to it, and did what needed to be done.
Downgraded the CSR to the classic Freedom Visa (which they don't accept new applications for anymore) because it is a Visa, it's not a Sapphire card (can't get the sign-on bonus if you hold ANY Sapphire card currently - even the classic no annual fee version), has the same card number, and updates Chase's system quickly.
Three full days later, applied for CSP through my online Chase account and got the we need more time message, which as others have said, often means too much open credit with Chase (I won't say how many Chase cards I have, exactly, but it's more than 5). So I called the reconsideration line (posted various places in this thread and/or Google is your friend), and moved some credit lines around.
Approved while on the phone for CSP. I would have waited for two weeks to apply in the branch to get the first year annual fee waived, but I had a reason to want to have the card now (a large planned purchase which will eat a large portion of the required spend, that needed to be made in the very near future). The rep was very nice, and upon my request, even agreed to expedite the card to me for free (I told him about my upcoming purchase, and asked nicely).
Unless you are a full-time road warrior who travels for a living, and flies extensively (in which case a good argument could be made for keeping either the CSR or the Amex Platinum), downgrading this card and applying for the CSP was an absolute no-brainer when you look at the enhanced benefits of the CSP recently announced, combined with the weak upgrade in benefits to the CSR and the annual fee of the CSR recently being jacked up to $550.
Will I miss the CSR once in a while? Yeah, probably.. Will I miss it $1550 (minimum) in the first year (the amount I am financially better off by doing this)? Um, no. If I miss it too much, I can always PC back to the CSR after a year and eat the $550 annual fee at that time, but I'll have to think about that one. The CSP has a lot to offer, for not a lot of annual fee.
So if you are holding a CSR and are at least 49 months post receipt of the sign on bonus for the CSR, I can't think of any reason not to do this (unless like I said above you really, really need the airport lounge benefits and that is worth more than $1550/year to you).
I know someone who has CSR but rarely travels because he runs several restaurants. One day I asked him why he keeps the CSR with a hefty annual fee but not seems to take advantage of the travel perks. He said he feels good when presenting the card for shopping and dining. So you figure!

oh yea i had to do that once before; i should have done it before i submitted the application. i hope i'll be able to speak with the recon folks about moving the credit around if they deny the application.
Neither agree nor disagree. There are times when it is convenient to redeem travel or convert to cash at a 1.25 cents per point. Not everyone's needs are the same.
.
Disagree. Citi 2% cash back does not beat 5x points on travel booked through the Chase Travel portal. Besides, there are domestic options (credit to Rapidfire94) that are much more lucrative.
looks like the pay yourself back option is awful for the next few months
Yea and the end dates for those are 3/31/22, really hope they add other options between now and then, I held back on buying Apple gift cards at 10% off because of PYB but I guess that was a mistake.
Not sure I agree cash is the worst value. With cash, you can invest in stocks, crypto, real estate and make even more cash. If you are redeeming for flights, I agree if you are flying for business purposes to close a lucrative multimillion dollar deal it's worthwhile. But if you are just going to lay on the beach, that imo is the worst redemption value.
25% "instant"/riskless return with using points for 1.25x categories is hard to beat with an investment, but I get your point.
Chicago suburbs branch said in branch application only give 80k bonus with waived fee.
Those bankers, they can be so clueless at times. The Chase 100K nationwide promotion for in-branch sign ups has been ongoing since June 17, 2021. NOT A SINGLE PERSON THAT APPLIED AT A CHASE BANK SINCE THAT TIME HAS REPORTED GETTING 80K POINTS.* 100% of the SD data points since then have been for 100K points. That's a pretty convincing sampling.
* _ Note: For the first few weeks of this particular promotion, Chase's system wasn't working cleanly. Customers that signed up in-branch for the 100K bonus were awarded it as one 80K bonus and one 20K bonus. However, online accounts only showed a bonus of 80K earned when the person first met the minimum spend. Customers were understandably alarmed that they would only be getting 80K, Chase reassured them that they would get the 100K. All cases were put to right by the person's statement date: the bonus was awarded as 80K with a separate bonus of 20K, for a total of 100K points.
