I started watching a lot of comparison videos between the CX, C1, and Sony A80J because I wanted to be sure which one would be the better investment. Here's the notes I've written so far based on the side-by-side comparison videos I've watched:

Clarity/dimensionality: A80J>C1>CX
Motion: C1>CX(?)A80J
Brightness: CX>C1(?)A80J
Gaming: C1>CX>A80J
Reds: C1>A80J>CX
Greens: A80J>C1>CX
Yellows: A80J>C1>CX
Skin tones: C1>CX(?)A80J

It seems that one of the most noticeable differences between the C1 and CX is the reds. The CX displays red as more of an orange-red and the C1 displays purer reds. Also, in the side-by-side comparison, the C1 seemed to have more clarity/detail.

Cable/ Satt provider can barely handle 1080/720 resolution. Current streaming sites can only offer ultra compressed 4K content. Unless they invent a new data compression algorithm that will not degrade content quality. I do not see 8K being of any service to anyone except professionals.

Here's a youtube link to a comparison of the C1, CX and C9: link [youtube.com]

The superiority is slight.

Burn in comments in 3...2...1. oops too late.
I hear ya! Samsung has been keeping themselves alive pushing info from defects of the earliest models. With pixel shift and everything else these days there's absolutely nothing to worry about unless you leave CNN on 24 hours a day with static content for like a year lol

Thanks - I've got the 2019 Q90R QLED from Samsung. Been wanting to make the switch over to LG as I'm pretty fed up with Samsung... These OLEDs look great, and seem slightly better-tailored for gaming but I've stayed away due to burn-in concerns (tend to leave a single game paused for several hours at a time regularly). The 4 yr protection would give me a lot of piece of mind (hopefully their isn't much hassle in filing a claim).
OLED isn't for you in this case. Ever thought of turning off the tv??

Unless we come out with some new type of media format every 8k movie will have to be on multiple discs..
Nah, see how it'll play out..... 8K Blu-ray discs will be the size of laserDiscs and like laserDiscs you'll have to flip them over to watch the second half of the movie. (Those things in Back to the Future 2 were actually 8K discs. They had the prediction right)

For 8K streaming. You'll need to make sure that you have at least 1Gbps internet speed and you'll max out you're bandwidth allotment mid movie. The lucky few that will just get their speeds throttled until the next billing cycle...will get to finish watching the movie in 240/360 resolution.

But seriously..... Something most people do not know is that back in 2004~2006 HVD (Holographic Versatile Disc) [wikipedia.org] was invented.
They were the same size and thickness as current optical discs except they could hold up to 6 TB of data

Then what's the problem with leaving static game paused on screen for hours since you know where the power button is? Applause

Prices seem reasonable for what you get. I have a 2019 65 CX that I hope to upgrade soon - not sure if I want to wait for the 8k version…content alone has a long way to go.

Tempting... Are the 2021 models noticeably superior to prior year's model?
LG is about to release the worlds first eyesafe tv. A 65" oled. I WOULD WAIT FOR THE EYESAFE DISPLAY.

I don't know if you're just being facetious.
Some TVs have a "picture off" button!!!
The TV remains on but the screen is blacked out/turned off!!

For what little it's worth, I did see a C1 and CX side by side, and while they both are outstanding televisions, the C1 does have a better picture. $500 better? I don't know about that because the CX was the best I'd see to that point; but if you catch a sale like this, throw in the warranty that includes burn in, and the added modes on the C1, it's pretty tempting.

8K is a pipe dream as it stands. Give it a few years at least.
Ain't that the truth! Had an 82 8K for a year and I've only watched boring NASA clips...not one 8K movie yet....SMH. Highest quality video game I've played has been ORI Will of the Wisps on Xbox series X in Supersampled 6K. Both experiences have been glorious, but not worth the premium.
