It does indeed have wired backhaul. The extenders are the ones that do not, but if you want additional wired nodes, just add additional routers. I currently have three of these, all on wired backhaul.
I have three of these and, overall, they work great. My main complaint is the subscription service, "Eero Secure." At first I thought it was just for additional security features that I would never use, but once my free trial expired, I learned that it also won't let you view your device bandwidth usage without it, which is really shitty of them. They have a Day, Week, and Month tab of the Activity screen, and you can only access the Week tab without a subscription.
I'm the same way. I have an old Nighthawk R7000 that I'm going to replace soon, likely with Eero. I moved into a bigger house and now priority is larger coverage and consistency, which Eero seems to meet those needs. I am very sure I don't fully utilize the security features/options on my nighthawk now, so I thought the subscription features you pay for on Eero wouldn't be missed. but THIS sounds like a feature I'd want. Wonder what else I'd be missing out on, cause there's no way in hell i'm paying monthly for anything. (if I wanted to pay monthly, i'd just rent equipment from my provider, which also ain't happening)
So, I am planning to buy something like this to avoid hard-wiring from one end my house to the other. Would it be better the 3 router version or 1 router plus extenders? We have 3 level house. My WFH office is at one end of the 2nd floor. My current modem set-up (goggle fiber 500 Mbps plan) is on the opposite end on the 2nd floor. With extended WFH for me and my kids taking classes from, I see occasional disconnects (especially office VPN).... I would rather hard-wire, but just don't want to go through with all the drilling, fishing wires etc.... And, TBH, though I am handy, I have not done something like that before. Plus the wife approval factor....
So, something like is worth the investment?

'Opt-Out' is BS. Kills the deal for me. Comcast does something similar, if you rent their router/modem. There's no way I am giving these creeps any control over my home network.
With all the information out there about Amazon's abuses of Alexa and Ring data I would have to say that the people who trust Amazon with their data have the same IQ as Facebook users.
It's one thing to say you don't care about your privacy, but it's beyond lunacy to believe that Amazon will not abuse your data in the worst possible way.

Thank you! Forgive my ignorance. How would the hardwire backhaul help or provide any advantage over the extenders? I mean the 2nd and 3rd units would be "talking" to the main unit via WiFi correct? So, wouldn't the speed be reduced anyhow?
That is crazy. I know from my past experience that issues like this can be a total dealbreaker. That's why I had to return the Deco M9s I had. They worked great by all accounts and got awesome reviews, but I couldn't use my phone if it was on Wi-Fi calling mode and we had to use data. TP-Link never solved this so I moved on.

Is it effective to use wired Ethernet backhaul via powerline adapters? Unfortunately my house isn't wired with Ethernet. I have used powerline adapters in the past and they worked ok (60 Mbps)

many of us had eero's prior to the amazon acquisition. also, you can't use any amazon device without signing into your account account. until you cannot create an eero account and are ONLY given to option to set up your eero with an amazon account, i'm
not worried about it.
