That's a very subjective question, but you can think of these like entry level "audiophile" headphones. They have a relatively neutral sound signature more like audiophile headphones and will perform very good out of most sources. They will not give that extra 10-15% that higher-end audiophile headphones will give you as improve your sources. People buying more expensive audiophile headphone area also looking for particular sound signatures and may want headphones that color the sound in specific ways.

For under $100, you won't find a better all around headphone in my opinion. It may not be the best at any one thing, but it's not bad at anything. It also responds well to equalization.

While they will sound great out of a cell phone, I wouldn't suggest these primarily for portable use. They are large, don't fold up, and don't block out any external sounds. These are good for listening around your house.
Someone in the room, if it's quiet, will be able to hear that you're listening to something, but they'd have to be very close to have any inkling what it was.
These leak a ton of sound even for open headphones. More than any other headphone I own and I've owned quite a few. People won't be able to make out a conversation on a call, but they'll know what you are listening to.

I still highly recommend them particularly at this price point.

Which Logitech headset if you don't mind me asking?

Which headphones do you recommend then?

Lolz what do you recommend below $100 price point?
Please don't buy into this whole BS on "gaming gear" unless you find some ridiculous deal. Especially Logi or Razor, they are garbage at any price point.
I tested the Logitech G935 Wireless, just wow.. utter garbage for the price. Sound wise not very detailed, and just boomy.
Same for the rest of the build and overall package, thrash.

I can't recommend a headphone when diff people are looking at diff reasons to get one.
A lot of people expect there to be an all rounder that does everything, well that is not possible.

I also don't understand people that have "only $50 bucks to spend on this.."
Well wait a bit more and gather more money so you can invest in a headphone that will last longer and sound better.

There is no reason why people should buy thrash equipment for X money when for a bit more they can get some quality gear.
I don't have any Abyss, or Rosson or Ruper Neve stuff. I got budget stuff that sounds great, and always try to improve little by little.

How do these compare to the Superlux HD 668B?

10 out of 10 times I would choose SHP9500's over Superlux. I see almost no reason to choose the Superlux over the Philips. The SHP9500 is better build quality, better sounding, and more comfortable than the Superlux. Once it's gone, it's gone and EOL so get a pair if you can. I don't think anything will truly shine in this space besides the Grado SR60's after the SHP9500's are all gone. Grado SR60x, at $99, replaces the original Grado SR60 I bought 14 years ago at $69.

What about AKG K240? $70 dollars, yes I know they are now owned by Samsung but.. they could be another option over the SHP9500.

These are legendary at this price point, but they won't fit you if you have a small head.

I have a small head, they fit. Clamping force is non-existent though.

I bought the Philips Fidelio X2HR 50mm (open box) from this seller on Amazon 2 years ago for $80. They were basically brand new and still work great presently.

Anyone have an opinion on these compared to the SHP9600? I believe Amazon has those for about $71.
Not much difference, SHP9600 got deeper low bass than SHP9500. Probably the biggest difference is the appearance of these two headphones Smilie

Facts. It's close to impossible to gauge what's ideal for me, short of trying a pair out in person. Unfortunately testing most gear isn't a possibility.

I'll keep my eye on the MDR! First time I've seen that set.

I kept going back and forth on the Hifimans and Sennheiser. Yesterday an ebay seller offered me their 58x for $130...they're already on their way. If the 4xx's drop noticeably in the used market they might end up mine in the future, too.

Told myself I wouldn't touch anymore equipment bc I hit my yearly budget on electronics. Then I realized all of my IEMs hurt after a few hours. This is especially true of my Monolith M300, KZs and Monoprice Quartets.

Drop has a refurb 4xx for $135. It needs an amp for it to shine though and is heavier. Try oluv's or oratory1990's eq.

I ended up getting the 58x and they're excellent! Comfortable for an entire shift, so I'm content for now. They get plenty loud with my LG's quad DAC at ~30% volume.
