I got this exact same config a couple of weeks ago, I also got the xps deal from 5 days ago, I have not received that one yet so I do not have any feedback on it.
as far as this pc is concerned I love it.. (I was desperate to play some valorant @240hz)
this pc is much smoother compared to what it replaced. I had a pair of 2400 8gb x 2 ram laying around (slower than the one that came with the PC) and installed those instead of the 8gb it came with.
Anyway.. I am playing valorant @240hz (1080P alienware monitor 25") getting 200 - 250 fps in game (all low settings except for high textures)

Just a heads up these Dell G5 gaming rigs are deadend platforms. They're littered with proprietary form factor parts which makes upgrading anything besides maybe a simple memory upgrade not possible. They also have pretty terrible thermal performance.
If you decide on getting one just be aware that its pretty much a throwaway system at the end of it's life. I'm sure there are a handful of part you can salvage from it for your next build but the majority of it will end up as e-waste.

Are there any prebuilts that are more upgradeable in this price range?

I was shocked at just how bad this PC is... this video review by Gamers Nexus is pretty impressive.
tl;dr - Terrible buy with most of the parts proprietary even for a PC, no future upgradability and even the NVIDIA GPU has a Dell custom VBIOS (WTF... why?). Oh and cooling is terrible, so you're actually not even getting all the performance you're paying for.

Well, so is anything made by Apple. And the Apple stuff will die sooner. Basically, they're all throwaways these days unless you build it yourself, and even then it will be obsolete in five years anyway.

Okay, three years, I was being generous. Get over six or seven years and the word "antique" will be thrown around on here (as it has been today, in fact).
Yes stay away from Dell computers, I bought a brand new desktop from them many years ago. The power supply and motherboard died just a few months after the free standard 1yr warranty expired. Back in the early 2000s they sold millions of computers with bad capacitors(causing motherboard failure)Dell didn't manufactured those capacitors but they tried to hide and lie about it to the customers. Just google search "Dell capacitors lawsuit" or "Capacitor plague". I'm not surprised at all they're facing class action lawsuit again...old habits die hard. To be fair I still have two 10+yrs old Dell monitors that is still going strong and I honestly think they are great monitors but I would NEVER EVER buy another Dell computer again.
I have a g5 in a slightly different config that I bought for the video card.
I highly advise against buying one. Proprietary parts, BAD cooling with almost no options to expand cooling. The kicker is that the MB specifically doesn't have any video connections, so you couldn't use the integrated cpu graphics even if you wanted to.
Shame on dell for marketing this as a "gaming" pc just because it's got an led strip on the front.
All of YouTube hates these things now. But I have had one with the i3 and a 5700xt mining both eth and XRM for 4 months, in a very hot room running wide open! Still ⛏️. Kinda comical that it's still kicking. If you leave them alone, and don't really upgrade them, I'm sure they will outlast there usefulness.
If it does die within warranty, then Dell can have it back.
If it makes it past the warrenty... Well then it was a free PC then. I'm sure parts will be dirt cheap on eBay by then anyway.
Is there a way to get alerts from Dell when these offers become available? I tried setting a SD alert but it didn't work. I'm also not on SD much during work week
