my cat is also 18 pounds. although he's been at that exact weight since December 2012. I have been cutting down his food intake... however, I think he is also gaining weight by the wheatgrass that he eats all the time. It never occurred to me... until I realized that cows also get very large and all they eat is grass.
I received the Fancy Feast from this deal. My cat apparently doesn't care much for this chicken in gravy. The flake are kind of dark.. or perhaps he doesn't enjoy gravy as much as other cats. (his favourite Fancy Feast is always the pate style)

The classic pate ones are approximately 100 calories per can. These ones are 65.
he only eats 1 can of Fancy Feast(pate style) and 1/2 cupful of Fancy Feast dry food each day. In the morning, he only wants 1/2 can of the Fancy Feast... during lunch, he eats a little bit of the 1/2 cup of dry food... at dinner time, he eats the remaining 1/2 can. A little later, he eats whatever's left of that 1/2 cup of dry food from lunch. Throughout the day, he grazes on the wheatgrass... well... like a cow...
