theyve already discovered that lowering the brightness has just as good of an effect

also, just watch less tv. if you're staring at a screen long enough for it to be a detriment to your health, taking frequent breaks will probably do you good.

Not hate, common sense. Blue light tech is a gimmick and has medically shown little improvement in eye strain and slight improvement in headaches. All that for unaturaly colors and changes to the source material. You keep waiting there buddy

I don't care if you 'tried it' and think it's revolutionary, actual double blind studies have concluded the same thing: blue-light filters don't help with eye strain. The only thing they might help with is reducing the effect the screen has on your sleep cycle but if screens are keeping you up at night, a blue light filter is not the answer. The answer is less screen time as you get closer to your bed time. Read a book instead.

No one is 'damaging peoples health' by having discussions about this. I've just about had enough of this 'we have to silence people for their own good' bullshit.

Yep, I just ordered the 77" A80J actually, after a lot of consternation about these TVs, 2020 vs 2021 models, Sony vs LG models. You can check GT or other dealers and get this year's model (either Sony or LG) for about the same price as the CX with tax included, or perhaps slightly more. For me, it seemed worth it to get the current model Sony, and I'm not a gamer. We'll see what happens when I get it, though. I'm really not sure how it's going to go or what I'll think of it. I'm coming from a low to mid range Samsung 75" LED from 2017.

Got to sincerely disagree with this. You shouldn't be giving medical advice unless you're a doctor.

I have extremely sensitive eyes, compounded by medical issue, and without a blue light filter, I'd never have been able to survive working while my eye healed. I'm only just barely able to use a monitor without a blue light filter on now.

I appreciate the difference may not be noticeable to you, and show little improvement for you, but for those of us with a medical condition, I would have had to quit work without a blue light filter. Just changing brightness alone was not enough for me.

Either way, consult your doctor first. Don't blindly follow posts on a forum that don't provide any medical paper proof as backup. Everyone's situation is different. Your health and eyesight is too precious to just blindly follow a comment that doesn't cite any sources.

It's funny you say that because I am in the exact same boat. I am trying to offload a 75" LG and/or my 75" Samsung (MU800D) and finally get an OLED. The only difference, I am a gamer and those extra HDMI 2.1 ports and VRR are pretty valuable to me. I can't wait to experience 4k@120 and true blacks. I have been bouncing between the LG CX, GX and C1 for a while and a Best Buy rep showed me the A80J yesterday and it was quite nice and the price was very appealing.

No one is saying it isn't potentially useful for those with a medical condition. It just has not proven effective with the masses. Anyone who claims otherwise has not looked at the actual research.

Ha that's awesome. I am currently rocking a 75" MU6300. Good luck with your purchase! It's been a lot of thought and research, and I needed to end it by just buying something. I don't care if the TVs are a few hundred bucks less on Black Friday. I want something to enjoy this summer. I am hoping my choice works out for me, but I am still feeling crazy for spending so much on a TV.

Tempting but I need to wait. I'm moving in a little less than a month and I will be building out a new home theater. Hoping to go with a 77" but I need to get into the new place and take measurements before I commit. Plus, it would be a pain to buy now and have one extra thing to move. Definitely gonna be spending a lot of time here looking for TV and audio deals.
