I would recommend the Jamo S 803 5.0 kit from amazon/adorama for $229 over this. Much larger drivers and Jamo is a Klipsch company. Just look at some of the reviews on YouTube and you will see it is a big step up for the same price range

I am making some assumptions on these, but they appear to be a successor to the Quintet series from Klipsch. Good overall sound, but very lean on bass extension. I think most people probably draw that conclusion given the size, but wanted to make sure it was said regardless. If I were to guess I'd bet the frequency response on these maybe goes to 100Hz. You'll need to cross your subwoofer pretty high which will probably make for directional bass response and possible gaps in your bass extension as it crosses over between the satellites and the sub.

Other things of note, because it always seems to get asked, you will need an A/V Receiver for these. They aren't powered. These are highly efficient speakers, though, so you don't need a ton of power or any top of the line receiver to get excellent performance out of them. I had some of the Quintets (maybe series 3?) that I used when I was cramped for space. I didn't use the center channel, so I can't speak to its performance, but the satellites put out good sound for their size. I hooked up the center channel and listened to it, but ultimately used a DIY center that I built into my entertainment console.

Overall, this is a solid deal, but just know going in that you also need a receiver, and you'll definitely want to add a sub very quickly. Very good price on a very well reviewed Home Theater in a Box set. At least I think this mostly qualifies for HTIB even considering the lack of a sub.

Still need a subwoofer for this set and holy cow look at the wiring jobs from the customer reviews. Do people not know how to hide wires?

Most people don't care, myself included. It's fun seeing people get angry on the internet though about other people's houses.

Lol I don't think it has anything to do with getting angry. We are definitely judging though.

True, also helps if you are deaf too so you don't have to hear the speakers either.

So... which sub do we like for these?

Yup some ghetto wiring action on some of those. But the one where the speakers are directly in front of the TV and blocking parts of the TV... that would just drive me insane.

Had qintet III series and don't recommend these. The tweeter of Klipsch is very bright. And mid range is just ok. Had a 12" sub and there is a large dip between sub's frequency response and these satellites. Really only good for people have no preference in sound. Although build is more solid than typical sound bar speakers.

How do these compare against the Klipsch reference 5.1 that were on sale for $299.99 a month ago? I know these obviously don't have subwoofer, but how do the satelites compare?

The Klipsch reference theater pack is much, much better and includes the wireless reference sub for $299 regularly. It'll be that price at adorama and Costco to complete with prime day without a doubt. This set offered here is a Best Buy exclusive and just a new version of the quintet series from Klipsch, which is junk.
