If that Siri chick only worked better with Spotify with verbal commands. Sadwalk
My understanding is that Apple has opened it up for Spotify to take advantage of this, but Spotify has not yet jumped on board to add this capability.

Just FYI, I did call my local store (B&M) and the $80 price does apply if you just want to walk in and pick one up.

Anyone using this as desktop speakers with their Mac? I'm thinking of getting two of them. Are there issues with using AirPlay since you can't use them as bluetooth?

How does the mic array compare with a standard echo?

Not sure if it'd be worth the extra $5 for the Costco return policy or not. But I'm definitely considering this. I'll probably call the B&M store near me in an hour to see if it's available to pickup (although shipping is indeed free.)
Costco will be better deal even with $5 more. Costco executive members with Citi card get 4% CB and Citi extends warranty for 2 years.

Only thing disappoints me about mini that they are not dolby atmos like discontinued full size speakers. Hope apple will enable dolby atmos on mini in future

AAFES will price match Costco so if you are eligible (Military, Vet, DoD Civilian) save a bit more by buying from AAFES and not having to pay the sales tax.

pretty sure these are not wireless like OP's title claims. There is a power cord. I do wish though that they would put a magsafe power cord on these and a battery like Bose does.

I have 7 minis across the house/garage/barn. Last weekend I synced all 7 plus two Apple TV's at once (one of the Apple TV's having music played on two different channels through a stereo) so I effectively had a total of 10 different outputs playing Apple Music. I was home alone moving about the house working on various projects and doing some cleaning. It worked flawlessly and was awesome having immersive sound no matter where I went.

Necessary? No. But was fun and would have been great for a party.

None of the echos are remotely comparable to these.

Not exactly. The mini lacks spatial awareness, the ability to "tune" itself by beam forming, to the room like a HomePod can.

I own both. The mini is a solid little speaker but it doesn't compare to the original HomePod.
I have the OG stereos with AppleTV as my main living room theater setup. I'm wondering if the minis will be a good enough stereo Apple TV setup for my secondary TVs.

I'd essentially like to know if they're drastically better than my TV speakers which they'd be replacing (rather than comparing to OG HomePods which I know they won't compete with)

I hope they make a rechargeable version next. Portability would be nice for something like this.
