I think what's happening is Vudu simply contracts the processing out to a payment processor. I think we are indeed buying from Vudu as we are buying from the Vudu website.
So the current LotR + Hobbit 4K extended edition bundles would be $40 with this deal. That's pretty tempting.
I was thinking the same. Thankfully, I checked beforehand, already had UHD, then looked in my iTunes purchase history to find "Middle-Earth Extended Editions 6-Film Collection" that I had bought for $39.99 on Christmas day last year.
I may still grab a gift card for 20% off for future deals...
Under 5 minutes for me. Two emails. A confirmation order. Then the card info comes in a second email. I sent it to myself. Even tells you when someone opened the actual gift card email.
The link comes right from Vudu.com, why would you say it's shady?
Where is it posted on vudu? I was looking around for the url vudu's website where you say the deal link comes to verify, because it seems shady that they would farm this out when they have their own merchant services. I like to be careful with my info, but I can't find any user reviews online which feels like a warning sign on its own to me.

If you are signed in, there will be a "gift card" category on the top row.

Post #1 in this thread has a link from VUDU.com. From that landing page, the next click takes you to the 3rd party GC handler.
I bought $100 ($80) and got the code and applied to my VUDU acct. Legit.
