Deal History

Excellent price - goes for +$469 everywhere else, even Amazon where I placed an order 2/3 weeks ago (but cancelled as I bought a mini-split instead) for $469.
One important thing to note if buying from Amazon (at least for me) - I bought 3 x 8k units 3 weeks ago and they were all manufactured in 10/20 which means the annoying loud beep whenever you tap on a button cannot be turned off. Newer models can turn off this beep using the app.
No name brand. Stick with tried and true LG and Frigidaire if you need ac only.Had a LG 12,000btu for 10+ years in my rental house here in Sacramento where we get HOT (109 today) and that ac unit never had a problem. Used two Frigidaire window units for bedrooms and they were also excellent. Easy to clean washable filters and that's it. Every 3-4 years I took a hose to the LG to flush out dust/dirt to keep the coils clean. That's it

Not a no-name brand. Midea is the largest appliance maker in China and generally have good reviews on their many different appliances. Their joint venture with Carrier has made them the world's largest commercial A/C maker. I'd trust a Midea unit over an LG or Frigidaire these days.

I'll stick with non Chinese owned companies.

You call a $40B annual revenue company a no name brand

Maybe known in China, but t's a unknown brand name in the US and likely many parts of the world. Pass on the China made stuff.
Btw, LG revenues are larger by a considerable amount.
