Got the 8000 btu for $335 a couple months ago. These U-shaped with investors are some kind of magic.

These are super quiet and cool very fast.I replaced a 6000 btu regular window unit (from Walmart) and it's a night and day experience. My old one was so loud and took forever to cool my master bed/bath.

This is a hell of a deal for 12000, plus it looks like it just uses the 115v regular wall outlet. Not 220v.

They are basically a minisplit that's small and goes through your window instead of your wall.
Same price at costco.com, or in-warehouse for $20 less, if your store carries it.
Most 110 units don't have heat. Just fyi.

The only thing it doesn't have is heat pump (the u-shaped ones don't have the feature. Regular shape ones do. Both are equally as quiet).

If you can get one of these phenomenal units from Costco, I'd recommend going that route. Better warranty and shipping takes a heavy toll on these. Expect at least a few bent fins if it's shipped.

Amazon [amazon.com] also has the 8000 for $339 after selecting the $40 coupon. I picked one up. I have two of the 10000 ones and love them.

Was waiting for this bad boy to go on sale. Bought one two years ago, shocked at how quiet it was.

Picked this up last week from my Costco for $320. Surprised by how amazingly quiet it is and cools our relatively large master bedroom upstairs pretty fast. Super easy to install if you have the right size windows that open vertically.

Cant speak for the $$ savings in electricity yet, but I dont like the idea of cooling the whole upstairs in TX heat when master is really the only room we use.

At least. It's still going strong.

CLARIFICATION: Did not mean to imply the first one died after two years. This is a second unit to use in another part of the home.

Hello community, I have a 12,000 BTU window A/C with a 9.5 EER rating already paid for but live in a converted backroom with no insulation in the walls or roof, so it gets hot easy.

Would it be worth it to drop $300+ for this unit? I pay on average $.38 per kwh.

I need A/C anytime weather gets to high 70's due to insultation situation. From the research I have done, most say A/C's break every 4-5 years and I may barely get my money back. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
