I'm waiting for a deal on the Plus version of this 2021 tablet. It has 4 GB of RAM instead of 3 GB and adds wireless charging.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F6FYN6B

Interested to see if you can add a Trade-in on the web (save 20% and currently offering $30 more for my last generation 10" Fire Tablet) and then order with Alexa?

It looks like you can still load the Google Play Store on this new version of the tablet:

I mostly use mine for consuming content bought on Amazon. Prime Video, Audible and a ton of paid apps that were free back in the long gone era of the Free App per Day for their app store. Kindle books with lots of graphics work better than on my Paperwhite.

Added to cart with Alexa and it shows the $70 discount but doesn't credit me for my 20% trade in or the $15 credit for using Amzn Photos. Can't use the $10 Discover promo either.

In the same boat as others - 20% trade-in would not apply until item received.
Chat said place the order at $79.99 and they will automatically refund me 20% once delivered (6/21).
So I pulled the trigger.

In for one in the new Olive Green color. I prefer watching a lot of streaming apps in tablet form on the couch or in bed and I made the mistake with my Lenovo Tab M8 from walmart not having Widevine L1 meaning SD 480p quality videos on all the streaming apps. Now I always check for info on the Widevine L1 certification when buying new devices as a lot of tablets that may even be a slick deal only have the L3 certification.

I shipped a broken fire hd 8 tablet on Tuesday hoping to have it processed by Prime day in order to get the discount. Tracking shows it's still in route. I added the new HD 10 to my cart via Alexa and chatted with an associate to ask if they can apply the discount. They instructed me to go ahead and order the tablet and after it's delivered to contact back for a refund of 20%.

I wonder how much better this works than the prior version I own. I have issues with that one constantly having wifi problems and app crashes that require a reboot. I do have the Play store loaded, which is required in my opinion. Amazon's store is inadequate. Not sure if that has any affect on it. Really just use it for a couple games in Android's ecosystem.

I also have an iPad Air. The fire is a quarter of the price but even making allowances for the price difference, the Amazon tablet is a disappointment. The base iPad is also much better.
On the flip side..

I pretty much use my 4 year old Amazon tablet for streaming movies from the various streaming services. These apps work great. So if you just want to do something like that you may be able to get a weak tablet like this to serve you for at least a few years.. maybe even a few more.

Just out of curiosity is anyone else having to wait 5-7 days for everything you order from amazon?

Back when the pandemic started I understood the situation and was fine with waiting for my stuff.

But im paying $119 a year for prime and it takes a week to get anything, and I have a amazon warehouse 30 miles away.

Walmart gets the stuff to me in 1 day, and half the time they deliver from the store the same day.

Targets still a joke, Last order I made for 7 items arrived in 6 different boxes over a 2 week period.

Yeah the "Prime" lable on products seems to just mean free shipping now instead of free 2-day shipping.
Most everything is still 1-2 days for me. They do at least give you a heads up on the product page if it's not. The estimated date is almost always accurate. Even if it says 5-7 days.

I picked one of these up when they had the refurbs for 80 bucks a couple of months ago. It's pretty slow, but perfectly capable to watch videos on, read books, and do some basic web browsing. I installed all of the Google services (app store, Chrome, YouTube, etc), making the tablets well worth the $80 I paid. The screen quality is surprising good, and the battery lasts forever. It's no iPad... But, it also is only 1/4 of the price. Well worth it.

I am having a baby soon and our monitoring system works only if you have the app open on your phone and doesn't have dedicated screens that come with it. Would this be a good option for that? I kind of was hoping there would be a similar sale on the HD8 as the 10 seems big for this application. Thanks!
We have used our Fire tablets for exactly this purpose, with content consumption and kid entertainment on the side. The 10 we used in a central location, like kitchen island (or currently kitchen bay window), so we could easily glance up at it and see it from across the room or 3 rooms over. We were using a Fire 7 as a tote-along, bedside, living room etc but it became easy enough to just pull cameras up on the phone because the little tablet was inevitably in the last place you left it across the house. The 7 now sits on my desk as a dedicated camera monitoring screen which is great for that.

As the kid(s) got older these Fire tablets have been great for entertainment/distraction (as much as we swore we would never allow any screen time at all). And if the kids get their hands on them, which they inevitably will, I didn't worry too much about it since it's so cheap.

Finally, you may find yourself sitting in the dark comforting or keeping a child asleep. These tablets have been great for popping on Netflix while doing that. Or when you want to watch something when your SO and baby have passed out on the couch or when your TV is somehow currently indisposed because the kid is watching whatever it is for the 10th time in a row.

Additional note, the Amazon free time kids bumper case for the 10 is awesome. Comes with a stand and lots of shock absorption. We got the black one.

Congratulations! And good luck!

Is there a way to get the apps to install on the SD card? I have a previous Fire Tablet and it wont allow 90% of the apps to be installed on the SD card so the 32GB of storage fills up pretty quickly.
