This is a clearance item at a Lowe's I was in today in the Dallas Metroplex. Brand new and still sealed. Lowe's.com shows it at $369 for Father's Day, but I picked mine up in clearance for almost another $100 off. It's a great saw and replaces my dewalt miter saw which was not a slider and didn't have the laser.

Interestingly, the vast majority of professional reviews say the opposite. They recommend it for woodworking, but advise you look elsewhere for construction.

I wouldn't consider this anywhere near entry level either. It's not as good as the flagship models from Dewalt or Makita, but at this price it also costs less than half of either of those and probably offers 85% of the performance. Heck, even on sale neither of those has been anywhere near this price point.
Agreed. I own the previous version of this saw, the Hitachi C12RSH. There is nothing entry level about it. It can stand toe-to-toe against any 12" sliding compound miter saw in terms of performance and accuracy. And boy, is it easy to setup. One great advantage of this saw is that the left and right fences are independently adjustable. If they are not co-planer out of the box, you can follow John Heisz's YT video to set them up perfectly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WNySpRCRcY The mighty Dewalts all have 1 piece fence. If they are not co-planer out of the box, you are SOL unless you have access to some serious machinist equipment to sand/grind them co-planer. See this guy's YT video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZSTnQ6NOHQ

The only Dewalt this saw falls short of is the Dewalt 780 with shadow line. The laser line doesn't come close to shadow line. But I can live with just the laser line for $250 less.

One other feature I really like about my saw is the rack and pinion micro adjustment for bevel as well as miter cuts. Once you set the cut angles, you can make micro adjustments with knobs to dial in the perfect cut. I don't recall seeing this feature on other brands of saws in similar price range

Finally, I want to comment about saw deflection. All miter saws are subject to deflection. Slider are more prone to deflection than fixed saws. The key is to learn how to operate the saw correctly to eliminate deflection and improve accuracy. Again, see this guy's YT video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFKXlKuHXYA (He is using a $1000+ Festool slider that deflects like crazy.)

will vets discount work on this
Only if you order online. I recently learned that many items will only take the military discount when ordered online. I recently got the woodworking bundle for $299 which is the newer lower price. I had it online was going to pick it up and it had my %10 military discount online. I had a return so I wanted to do them together. Good thing I noticed because it wasn't giving me the military discount in store. They couldn't apply it or another coupon, supervisor had to approve a price adjustment to listed price. Gave me a hard time too even though I showed them my online cart. They took so long doing this she acted like it's my fault and just said okay we'll mark it down this time but next time just buy it online. lol

Get a stand and you won't even think about the size. Wink

I picked up the Ridgid stand for $70 from DTO in December, which doesn't add much to the total cost of the setup.

Same here. This setup is nice.

I bought the 10" version of this last year the C10FSHC(T) the ten inch slider also from Lowe's for $149. That was an online deal. The saw is fine and I used it only for rough framing. I have to say it's a heavy 10" at close to 50 pounds, no idea how much the 12" weights.

Great deal and glad I waited before buying any other miter saw since I like the features this saw offers and it's price is unbeatable. Brickseek was showing two in stock and the Lowe's website said one so I took a chance and found it on the floor in the clearance area, not on the displays. Thank you OP!

I'll go with 8 1/4" sliding before I go with 12" compounding. If you are a pro contractor, you know 12" compound is big waste of money.
I am going to take a wild guess and say that you commented based on the title which is missing the portion where it says compound SLIDING. So yeah its a 12" sliding compound miter saw for $269

My store had "Limited availability". Figured it was the floor model, but when I didn't see it out I went hunting. Found it in the rafters and they brought it down for me. $285 out the door. Thanks OP!

I may not use it for some time, probably after a return would be possible. I did not read reviews, until after I bought it, and have not tried it, but nothing I read chenged my mind.

Picked up one for $269 at Lowe's in New Orleans just in time for a living room remodel. The stores closer to me were still at $369 on sale. The best part is my wife picked it up while she was in the city.

I've been checking my store stock the last few days and my local store was just marked down to $269. So if you've checked previously, you might check brickseek again to see if the price has changed. I went to the store and they had 3. I used the Lowe's app to check the price and it came up $269 in the app.

Thanks! I was able to score one this morning brand new in box. Had to search for it up in the rafters but found it. It was actually $269 when they scanned it so great deal!

Which stand is that? I need one now that I was able to pick this miter saw today. I'll be on the look out for one now.

Ridgid AC9946. It's currently $179, but it has been on sale for $70-99 at DTO/HD many times in the past. If you can wait I'm sure it will hit that price again within the next few months.
