Matrix, Mission Impossible, Daniel Craig Bond, Fast and Furious and Jurassic Park are all getting more movies.

Lord of the Rings/Hobbit is getting a super box set this "summer" (though it may be pushed to fall)

I'm guessing they're pointing that out for the latter. Some people do wait to buy box sets only if it's "complete."
I personally find it weird and would sell whatever I had at some point in the future if I wanted to upgrade to a new set, while enjoying the currently available set through that point in time.

I would add: MI & DC Bond movies only got a PQ upgrade no AQ, The Matrix & JP did not get a reference transfer unfortunately.

LOTR super box movies won't be different and only adding "new bonus content" whatever that means and maybe some trinket of some kind.

I bought a Season 1 to 7 box set of Games of Thrones on the cheap before season 8 came out. I no regrets. JK, sort of.

But have tried shopping for discs lately in a like a Target or Best Buy? They're almost extinct now. If you like physical media, I'd say buy it now while you can.
