I have been using these as my daily drivers for teaching remotely since March 2020. I always forget how good they are for music and movies until I use them again for that, because they're so comfortable for that sort of purpose. They're very loose-fitting, so wouldn't be good in a crowded environment, but would be great for home use. There's a reason they've been around so long. I'd pick up another pair, but mine are still in excellent shape.

SHP9500 + Vmoda Boom Pro = best FPS gaming headphone combo for any console or PC for sub $200. Also probably the most comfortable headphones stock.

I own the AD700X with modmic and the SHP9500 with vmoda boom pro. Don't buy a knockoff vmoda boom pro for half the price; they all break in a month, trust me I tried. The legit vmoda boom pro has been running strong since 2018. My wife abuses the hell out of it and uses them as her xbox console cans. They're a lot of fun when directional sound matters such as Dead by Daylight or any FPS game ever.

They also work great on Oculus Quest 2 as replacement speakers. Fit great with the quest 2 stock configuration with a short 3 foot 3.5mm cable.

Once you own them go to: https://github.com/jaakkopasanen/...%20SHP9500

Install AutoEq and follow the instructions on how to use software to equalize them. This is for PC users only, not console. Sorry.

Had mine since 2012....still going, still using them, still awesome.
Yep same here. They are still going strong. For all those complaining about the lack of bass, just do the felt and ring mod (google it). That will help bring out the bass and it's enough that you can easily hear it when intended by the music producer. So in a way, it makes them sound very neutral but still fun to listen to.

I prefer 9500 over 9600, but my favorite headphones of all time is still Philips SBC-3396.

Almost bought these after returning the Koss studio headphones (didn't like the fit or finish, sound was too flat) but got the Senheiser 599se for $100 (1/2 off!) instead. Haven't see that on SD but it's a great deal if you want open back.

This is my exact question. I almost pulled the trigger on the Senns, but I've also had my eyes on these, and obviously, the price is right-er with the Phillips.
I had the same question. With Discover discount (40%), I pulled the trigger on the HD599 SE.

I ended up ordering these and then saw the deal on the hd599 SE and ordered them as well. They ended up being the same price basically after the amex 40 percent off. Thoughts on which are going to be better for Xbox gaming?

To be fair, I have the X2s, not the 9600s, but I much prefer the feel and sound of the Sennheisers.

Currently using Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro's. I love them but I also love new headphones. Could these be comparable or maybe possibly better?

These are seriously comfortable, but party because they do fit loose. You have to pay attention if you bend down for something, but I love them. Been using them for 5 years.

Thursday can't come sooner. My 9 year old craptastic zman mic is sorely lacking I just couldn't bite at the prices of the good inline mic. I'm excited to see the differences to my Samson sr850 semi open velour pads. I am bummed the $10 ones are such crapola (as is the zman mic). I'll probably use my $20 in credits and rewards points if they'll let me stack to get it in a few weeks. Zman lives on. Probably dieing a few days before I can use my credits lol.

my PC (xonar amped soundcard) and LG v20 (quad(?) amped 3.5mm have been starved for play time. I have been in a sound desert since mid last week when my monoprice studio bluetooth gave up the chooch (stress fracture on the plastic that looks like it had been stretching since the day I slapped them on my gord). My cloth covered wired buds molded up and ropey b.t. I snatched a bud clear off the week after I got them (maybe 3 runs fml).

I picked up a fiio btr3k (not on sale: $70, $10-20 too much, and plz don't hate me lol). I'm excited to see how those play together with bluetooth and as a soundcard through USB c with my PC.

I'm exited to see how this all works in to my rotations: kz zst ($15 sorry flash sale), cca c10 ($32 after $5 clipable coupon), "new bee" foam tips ($7), and balanced 2.5mm cable ($16 after coupon). Starter kit into iem and balanced cables for me.

Was definitely a fun time restocking the army and going to hifi 101\201 class. Kinda felt like I moved my audio setup up a few rungs in numbers of headphones and peak audiophile nerdness.

I was just gonna spend $50is on a new set of b.t. cans. Dammit Amazon! Get out of my wallet :p at least I stopped at my hardcap of $200. Hopefully this pile of tech can hold off until finances stabilize and I can get some planars I think.
