Dell uses 2 different panels. I am pretty sure this is the lower 250 nits, or they would have advertised the better one Frown Other than that, it seems like a solid machine, but check the reviews on the hinges. They have had problems in the past with them breaking, especially on the flip/ touch screen versions

Here is one review: Cons: touch screen is not useful, it would better to replace touch screen with higher color (RGB) screen. Fan noise is a little loud.
I jumped on it but then realized in time that 5700U is still Zen2 based. Just in time so I was able to cancel and avoid Dell restocking fee
Didn't say 250 is good. Just stated the fact.

At this price, it's hard to find 300 nits. Even 300 won't make a big difference under the sun.

Since I don't watch dirty videos outside, it's OK.

My fan doesn't always turn on but there's this application called "Notebook FanControl" set the config to Dell Inspiron 7375 and it can control the fan perfectly, but if you are running some heavy stuff make sure to turn it on. I like to turn it off when I'm just doing excel and browsing. laptop stays around 35~45 C without a fan on.

I did turn off "processor performance boost mode" from the power options, since I don't do video/photo editing. Base clock speed is plenty.
Set the "processor performance increase threshold" to 85% , turn system cooling policy to passive to keep it as cool as it can and prevent the fan to turn on.
I downloaded the NFC, thanks. presently its at 43F.

I could not find however, the processor performance boost mode to turn it off, not was i able to find any set processor performance increase threshold setting.

Considering adding another SSD so I opened the back cover for the first time to check the existing SSD size and slots. To my pleasant surprise, the laptop was shipped with the smaller form 2230 so there is still space for the larger and cheaper 2280 (funny though the 2230 is sitting in the larger slot - no problem moving it to the smaller one). Not sure if every laptop was shipped the same way, and I don't think you can tell from the parts list. Double check before you go buy a new SSD.

yep mine is exactly like you described.

i tried to clone over my old laptop using a 2280 stick in a external enclosure.

wouldnt boot up once installed in this inspiron 1515.

I think it was too much to go from disssimilar hardware, as well as the old laptop's SSD was MBR, legacy boot, (I didt convert the 2280 stick from MBR to GPT using partitioning software.

versus this inspiron 1515 is UEFI boot only.

has anyone tweaked the graphics settigs on the RADEON sofware? The colors are really drabby. Red and Orange took too much like each other. The blacks are not black enough until I tone down the brightness setting.
