what if i just need phones for existing cricket plans?
About to do this deal, can anyone elaborate on the process to "immediately downgrade to the $30/mo plan"? Is it done through their site, or do I have to call them? Do I change it right after signing up, or do I wait until I've received and activated the phone? Thanks

have you done the deal (or one similar with cricket?)
can you explain how the immediate downgrade works? my assumption is that if you start on the $60 plan and immediately downgrade, you wouldn't get a credit - so you'd lose $30 of the first $60 of the "downpayment" by switching to the $30 plan and be left with only 4 months of service instead - is this assumption incorrect? i'd like to get them, but would like to make sure before hitting that buy button.

No, you will get 30 back if you downgrade it immediately. So 180 will give you 6 months

check your local kroger affiliate stores - i picked up an android there last week for $53 and it included a $25 service card - but that deal ends today. (the phone was on sale for $38 and the card was $25 and when you bought both, you get in instant $10 off.)

I am not sure what "family pack" discounts you referred. When I did this before, total monthly payment was decreased to 90 for two. But that's the upper bound one customer could do. So you need two sperate accounts if you want 4. So the total monthly will be 180.

Here is what I did with the previous deal. Purchased the phone on a new account. downgraded immediately to $30, chat with Cricket and merged the two accounts (to transfer the credits on the new account), and then canceled the new line. At the time, the deal was the phone for $50 with two months of $60. It ended up $50+$30+tax for me, because the remaining $90 was transferred to my main account when I merged the two accounts. Based on this experience, one should be able to get the phone for $30 and the remaining $150 should be transferred to the main account as credit. For a cricket customer, it couldn't get sweeter actually!

not really sure how to describe the "family pack" other than if you go to reddit and search /r/cricketgroups there are people there looking to either add people to their groups or join existing groups - and since i'm a little less than trusting i figure i'd only do it with family rather than internet strangers. :-/

For this deal, you actually need to pre-pay 3-month. That's 180 for one device and 270 for two within a single account. More devices will need separate accounts. So such "capital" cost cannot be avoided. After setting up accounts, you could merge them together without losing your balance in the accounts (some merging cost: 5 if I remember correctly). But I don't think you can reduce monthly payment below 30 just by more lines. I know there is family plan from Cricket like $100 for 4 or 5 lines. But it is definitely a special plan, not just account with 4 or 5 lines. So you could try it after merging 4 lines into a same account. But I would like to remind you, people usually refer themself for the new account if they already have an existing account. That makes $25 credit for each account thereby $50 in total. But this requires two months before merging. So you need to figure out what is the best stratery for you. I suggest you read the old Cricket post. There were a lot of information.

no, for referral credit you have to wait for the period to end, which means you are using the credits during that period.

They didn't let me order more phones during last round promotion, just wondering whether it is still the case, they have limit on orders per address, and they have also improve the address verification system, hard to play with it,Frown

Yes,you can let the phone sit inside the drawer, wait for 6 month. But if you want to use the service, don't use the sim card in the other phone, otherwise the time won't count to the 6 month for this iphone
